All 'A' Classic Trophy on the of the Sweet 16 Preview

Featured Replies

On the back cover of the KHSAA Girls Sweet 16 Preview, there was this picture of kids holding up the All 'A' State Championship trophy.

I didn't know what to make of it, but it sounds to me like a hint the KHSAA is glad the All A is a thing. Why? Because it takes pressure off them to classify.

Take it however other way you want but that's my opinion. Why wouldn't they put a picture of the actual state championship trophy they sponsor? IMG_0998.JPG

You have got too much time on your hands, BV!!!!!!

I think you're WAY over reading things. As in, way way way over reading

Tha All A trophy is significantly larger in comparison to the KHSAA trophy.

I know it's just a little small detail. But why not use the KHSAA state trophy?

It looks much nicer. I get the equality aspect the KHSAA feels (blah blah), but I miss the heck out of the old one.

It's probably more along the lines of "hey, that's a cool picture" or an intern who doesn't know the difference.

I'm sure everyone in the KHSAA knows what the trophy looks like. And I'm sure there are multiple "cool" pictures of the KHSAA trophy.

This picture is actually from a pre-game video played at the Sweet 16.

I believe it is an ad for St. E's and not from the KHSAA. I also believe it is Holy Cross (Cov) holding up the trophy in this ad, as I watched the pregame ad on the video and saw this.

Notice the St. E's web address on the bottom on the page!

Lol. a keen eye and attention to detail will take him far in life.

This. Someone was not paying as close to detail as you.

If it looks like an ad, is in a primary location (backcover) for an ad, and has sponsor's clear identified like an ad.....than it's probably an ad. "Follow the money, BV".

I think that you nailed it.

I'm going to say that's probably exactly how it happened, and probably not via an intern. The people doing graphic ads aren't paying attention to little details like which trophy is which. They just want to make a pretty ad so their client will pay for it. They do this dozens of times a day with dogs, kids, portraits, cars and other merchandise, because they have more clients than St. E and/or the KHSAA.

If anybody is to look bad here, it's the KHSAA if they were a party to proofing the ad. My guess is this all went through St. E's marketing department (and KHSAA never saw it), and I can largely guarantee nobody in that department knows the difference between the All A trophy and the KHSAA trophy.

Agreed, especially since there was one on site.
