Don't want to lump the good people of Pendleton County in with Northern Kentucky, that's why wanted to clarify with extreme. Actually could have said extreme southern Ohio, either way same difference

Before I start my rant I want to give alittle background. The 10th region "A" member schools agreed years ago in order to host the tournament their gym needed to hold 1000 people. Cal. Christian's gym does not meet the criteria so they passed it on. Same for Augusta, Silver Grove, and St. Patrick. However, for some reason Bishop Brossart who does not have a gym big enough to hold the tournament. Can't follow suite and pass on the tournament. They have to have their say. In years past they have used the Campbell County Middle School for their site. This year there is a conflict with CCMS so they have decided to move the tournament to Regents Hall on the campus of NKU. IMO I believe this is a time for the "A" schools to have the chance to showcase their gyms. Because we all know they will never be hosting the at-large region or even their own district tournaments.

Now to add insult to injury the 10th region schools today were informed that NKU will be charging $3.00 to park. I've been to the All "A" at CCMS, Bracken County, Deming, Nicholas County, and Paris and I've never had to pay $3.00 there to park. But thanks to Brossarts selfishness you will be doing it this year if you attend the tournament. I hate to think that this will cause some people not to attend the tournament. Especially the students of the participating schools. So I hope Brossart is proud of how they are conducting this tournament.

If anyone would like to voice their displeasure you should contact A.D. Mel Webster at Bishop Brossart. Tell him what you think. I know I will!!!:madman::madman::madman:

D,

I would be happy to give you 3 bucks to park each night you attend.

Wow, who did Brossart draw that will knock them out.

I don't think they had a bad draw. What I meant was, that if someone refuses to go to the All A because of parking then that means there will, at the very least, be one seat open for someone who does want to be there.

You extreme Northern Kentucky people are the ones that are truly laughable, in more ways than one. I GUARANTEE you if Mason County charged $3.00 or more to park at the 10th region tournament there would be 500 posts in various threads and everyone of you know it and for the last time it's NOT the charge that is the problem, it's having to pay for something that you NEVER have had to. And for the ones that think Regents Hall is all that, are you kidding me? Campbell County Middle School would be plenty big enough for this event during any year. I actually hope now Mason County charges $5 to park this year at the region and raises ticket prices.

 I do too!!! That way you will have to pay $5.00 to park!!! I couldn't imagine how you would feel seeing how the $3.00 has impacted you.

On a serious note, I agree that Campbell Cnty Middle school would be a great venue. However, I think someone said there was a conflict and it was'nt available. So you go to the next option. I for one think Regents Hall is a very good facility to hold the event. It's not great to have to pay to park but it is what it is. It is a neutral site, It is a nice facility and the kids will enjoy it. That's what really matters. Its worth the $3.00.

Wanna bet that the good people of PC wish they weren't lumped in with those Extreme NKy teams in the Football next season? If you think Holmes beat you bad (55-0) last year, what do you think HHS and or CovCath would have done to you? Beating Ludlow 7-6 and I apologize to you Panther fans, doesn't put a scare in anyone from Extreme NKy.

Oh All In, you're going to hate Football next year! :D

I am an extreme Northern Kentucky person (who doesn't mind paying $3.00 for a safe, secure parking spot near a warm gym), an unrepentant Obama supporter...and I aspire to be a made man in the Park Hills Mafia. What a country.

I'm curious to see just how close parking is for Regents hall. They have added so much to the campus over the years, I don't remember that much parking being near the front door of Regents? Regardless, it is what it is. If they want to charge $3.00 to park, let them staff it, pay the workers,, stimulate the economy and pay for some student activities. It may help keep our taxes down in the long run?

They have a gravel lot on the other side of Regents behind the baseball field. I think that is the closest one.

Before everyone goes piling up on us, (Brossart), I'd like to clear a few things up.

We're sorry that our on-site gymnasium only seats 750 and that we are unable to host the 10th Region "A" tournament at Brossart High School. We would love to have a gym that seats 1200-1500, but we don't.

We really want to be in the rotatation. We feel that just because we can't host it on-site shouldn't mean that we (or Augusta, Calvary, SG, or St. Pat) can't host it at all. We have gone to great lengths in the past to host it at the Campbell County Middle School and this year to host it at Regents Hall at NKU. It would be easy to pass and not go through the time, effort, and trouble to host the tournament. But we feel that we can do a first-class job, and provide a positive experience for everyone involved - teams and fans alike. Just because school's with gyms that seat 1,000 people doesn't mean that all of the other bases are covered - parking, locker room facilities, etc..

At Regents Hall we will have ample seating, four spacious locker rooms, and parking areas set off for our fans.

We are working tirelessly to make this tournament a success. We will have a first-class hospitality room sponsored by Barleycorn's (Jan 19-22nd) and Subway (Jan 17th). We are producing a full-color, spiral bound program and are creating sharp commemorative T-Shirts that we plan on selling at a minimum price. We are going to broadcast the entire tournament over the internet so that those who can't come to Northern Kentucky can listen to the games and those at the game can go home and listen to the replay. We are going to provide pizza (or something suitable) and Gatorade to each team following their games. We are really going the extra mile to gain approval from the participating teams and their fans. I feel like the rental car company who was Number 2 and had to try harder - that because we don't have a gym that meets the requirements, we have to work harder to make up for it with a quality product.

When we contracted with NKU to host the tournament there, they said they would block off parking for us, but the first mention of a fee was at our meeting with the facilities coordinator last Wednesday. We pushed back, requested an exception, and are presently pursuing the possibility of paying a "blanket" charge that perhaps we could deduct from tournament revenues to eliminate the parking fees. Nothing is etched in stone. I will be honest, because this is a five day event, it is likely that a "blanket" fee, should NKU agree to one, might be cost prohibitive.

The parking fee is is the same argument that led to a multi-page thread on this site back when the 10th Region tournament was held at the BOK Center two years ago. When all was said and done, the consensus was that the 10th Region was a huge hit with the fans and that as long as it was part of a four-year rotation, it was a welcome change of pace, and something that most fans/teams would look forward to every four years.

The same applies here. Brossart is only one team in a nine team rotation. Even narrowing the rotation down to the teams who presently wish to host the tournament, Brossart is only going to host the tournament every five years.

All we ask is to be given a chance. I would hate to see a great effort on our part to conduct a first-class event be totally overshadowed and only remembered becasue of a $3 parking fee. Give us a chance and then write the reviews following the tournament. I think we will pass muster with flying colors.

Thanks for all your hard work! See ya there.

Why wouldn't they use the parking garage that was built over the track/soccer field?

For events, that is used for the BOKC events because it is closer to that facility. If people are going to complain about the $3 parking fee, I can only imagine the yapping we'd hear if that particular parking garage was the primary parking place for this specific events. As mentioned before, the gravel lot by the baseball field will probably be the primary lot, but don't forget about the parking garage next to the tennis courts as well.
