DevilMayCare Posted June 25, 2024 Posted June 25, 2024 2024 Schedule Aug 15 vs. Somerset** Aug 24 vs. Bullitt East (Little Ceasars Fort Harrod Bowl) Aug 30 vs. Simon Kenton (at Woodford County Bowl) Sep 6 at Shelby County Sep 13 vs. Danville Sep 20 at Southwestern Sep 27 vs. Madison Southern Oct 4 at Marion County* Oct 11 - BYE Oct 18 vs. Casey County* Oct 25 vs. Garrard County* Nov 1 at Lincoln County **Scrimmage *District On the whole, ten wins and a district title were a step forward in Craig Yeast's second season. Lou. Central delivered a sobering reminder of just how far they have to go with a running clock defeat in the playoffs. ATH Ashton Drakeford (FBS offer from Akron) should be a centerpiece of the offense, and is also one of several starters back on defense, which also includes the top three tacklers. 1
Honey Badger Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 Cory Ford best back out of Mercer County(maybe he could of been considered Harrodsburg)...I think he was the one I'm thinking of. They had a nasty 3 headed monster in 2007-2008. Pretty sure all 3 went for well over 1k+ yards. One was Cory Ford, one kid they called Sunshine was much bigger than the other 2 (I think he went to Georgetown, Ky for college) can't remember the 3rd kids name which makes me disappointed in myself because he could have been the better of the 3 but he could flat out fly and was a dawg also. Anyone who remembers that team could you clear up my memory for me? Pretty funny looking back now to think about what that team did and they probably passed the ball 2 times a game.
Honey Badger Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 No Mercer County faithful out there to clear this up for me?

You're thinking of the 2006 team that won 2A after absorbing Harrodsburg. Brandon Ford ran for 2,000 yards and Corey Jackson wasn't far behind with 1,800 or 1,900. Their per carry averages were crazy. Mercer wrecked everybody on the way to the finals before getting a stiff challenge from defending champion Russell. 1

There was a third running back that they also had and he was a monster but didn't quite get the touches but had like 100 yds a game. Any clue what his name was? Almost positive he was an original Mercer County boy. Them 2 dudes Jackson and Ford could leave anybody in the dust though. I think them 2 won some type of state title that year in track as well. They were dope.

BlueRaider Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 Excited about Coach Sutton joining the staff! Did a lot of good stuff at Lindsey Wilson College. It will be interesting to see if he changes up the defense a lot or if they keep it similar to what they have been in the last couple of years!

Totally different back then Jackson and Ford but gave them that extra dimension they needed because Jackson and Ford were so alike. Thanks for everyone correctly clearing up my memory. Them were some bad dudes.

Carl Spackler Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 Anyone at the Mercer/Somerset scrimmage tonight?

I think both teams varsity scored twice. One of Mercer's scores came from a snap over the punters head. Somerset seemed to move the ball a little better but both defenses outplayed the other teams offense. 1
