  1. Which is unfortunate because Stockdale has built some positive momentum there not only with the football team but with school culture as well.
  2. I think it will be hard to attract anyone to the district with all the drama around what to do with the schools and the mixed feelings towards the super intendent. It would be hard for a coach to commit to going to that environment I think.
  3. Congrats to Coach French! Russell Co is in good hands!
  4. If memory serves me right, it was a similar timeframe after Shipley left, correct? It took them like 3 months to hire that time as well.
  5. Didn't Mills come from Southwestern and Jason Foley's staff before going to Boyle?
  6. Boyle has been doing something similar to this since 2014/15. It hasn't been just Haddix. This is no different then having weights in school and having multi-sport athletes take a weight class. The difference is that this is a football-specific group and they get to go a little longer than the regular 50 minute class. I think this is being hyped up and blown out of proportion. Lots of schools have workouts during the school day. The only thing special about this one is that it starts 30 minutes before school and runs through first period.
  7. I agree with what you're saying if you base the "high water-mark" on wins in losses. I was more basing on what I think most would consider a successful program. Winning seasons where kids are visibly growing into good young men who are contributing to their school and society at large. Academics are improving across the program. Fans respect the product you put on the field because kids play hard and disciplined, etc... I think if you are doing those things then you've got a successful program and then when you do get those good classes of talent, I think you will inherently see championship level play out of them.
  8. I would say the characteristics of a "good job" for a head coach would be 1.) Admin support (to do things you need to get done logistically) 2.) Parent support (fundraising and more logistical help) 3.) Community support (help create an atmosphere/culture that kids can buy into) If a community has these 3 things and the football team still isn't reflecting a high water-mark standard then you have a bad head coach and not a bad job.
  9. I'm hearing rumblings that they are considering bringing him back. Is there any validity to this?
  10. The thing that I was shocked by and what impressed me the most was the size DISADVANTAGE of Boyle. Corbin dwarfed them in size up front outside of one or two of Boyle's linemen. It was an absolute great game and hats off to both teams competing at the highest level. They both had great game plans and great players and Boyle just executed a few more times than Corbin did. I did have question though. I watched the 3 hurdles happen and was blown away that it kept happening after the first one: Has this been called in Eastern KY this year? I know that different regions of officials place points of emphasis on different facets of the game. Corbin acted like they didn't know the rule existed. I'm not bashing anyone, just truly wondering from anyone that has watched some Corbin games if this rule has been called on them before? Or if the kids knew the rule but were just trying to make plays? Thanks in advance.
  11. I think this is the showdown everyone wanted to see when FD was first announced was moving up to 6A. The Lexington "public" school vs the Louisville "public" school. I think Male is on a mission this year and is looking to make a statement. Also from what I've seen, I don't think FD does enough offensively to do much to the Male Defense, which is one of the best in the state. I think Male wins 24-14.
  12. I think Bardstown will do better than what most of the replies are showing. They looked terrible at the start of the year but have hit their stride mid-season on and I think will be more of a challenge than given credit for. That being said, Franklin County should win by a couple of scores as they are bigger, stronger, more physical and playing at home.
  13. I think the travel really favors SK. Fern Creek has the weapons to score at any point and they have big boys in the trenches. If FC can keep it close early then I think it is a game they can win. If SK can jump on them quickly it may turn into a land slide. I'll take SK 35-21.
  14. If Bullitt East finds a way to win on Friday against Male, Jack Zwernemann needs to be in the conversation.
  15. I think Jack Zwernemann from Bullitt East should start to pop up on some radars. He's currently the 6th leading rusher in 6A (as a QB) and the 2nd leading passer. I know what BE's schedule looks like compared to the likes of Trinity/X/Male, but he's having a standout season after filling the heavy shoes of Travis Egan. If BE has success in the playoffs and district this year, it will have been off of his back.
  16. Henderson County is apparently 1-5 and in the top 10?
  17. Congrats to Coach Blair on his first W taking over at MC!!!
  18. Hearing there was a big scuffle in the Central/La Salle game and Central has some players out this week. Any validity to that?
  19. Saw a player be made to come out for a play to get a mouth guard at the game I was at this past week.
  20. I think this will be a low scoring game. I think Male's defense is really solid. If Ballard can contain Gainey and find a way to score some points, I like the Bruins in a tough one!
  21. I don't think this one will be as close as people say. After the impressive win they had over Lou Central, I'll take the Crimsons by 3 TDs.
