Congrats to a great Blue Raider Alumni and National Champ! The Lindsey Wilson Coaching tree is slowly starting to grow over the state! There are several assistants around the state that will become head coaches in the future.

I would be interested to see what the denominator of total football-playing schools would be for each year. You think we have lost some independent schools throughout the years but you also have added not only new schools, but schools who existed who added football later than others.

I think that interviews will probably be next week from what I've heard.

Coach Watkins is one of the best in KY High School Football right now and it would be good for the sport if he had a long career. He also works as a part of the "Big Man Foundation" which- to my understanding- is a non profit that is lead by coaches to support other coaches in personal emergency financial situations- a cancer diagnosis for example. Oakley has been the mastermind behind much of the LCA success over the tenure of Coach Charles (certainly not taking away anything from him just pointing that Watkins has been a major part) and I look forward to seeing the next step that LCA may take under his leadership!

I truly believe that this is one of the best jobs in the state. Two coaches in 40 years, great facilities, a lot of community support. Also, it's a one horse town. No one to compete over kids against. Should be a great job for attracting a good coach.

The best for the school and for the Community during his time and after his time have been Travis Leffew and Jacob Tamme. They not only established the culture of what the program is today but have come back to reinvest in the school and program time and time again. However, the best player from an athletic standpoint and therefore what I believe the answer to this question is- is Lamar Dawson. Everyone in the country was recruiting him-and for a good reason.

Was interested in seeing how many games have already been moved due to potential weather on Friday. So far the Courier Journal released these 3 teams now playing on Thursday instead of Friday: Christian Academy Louisville at Manual - Thursday 7:00pm Jeffersontown at Doss - Thursday 7:00pm Larue County at Kentucky Country Day - Thursday 7:30pm I was just informed that North Bullitt and Seneca moved their Game to Thursday as well.

Agreed. That was said. That is the major issue that needs to be fixed with RPI. OUTSIDE of that- it is not fair to judge the RPI... yet. We must wait for a few more weeks before we all start complaining about the rankings. EXCEPT for teams who play out of state games... They get screwed. That MUST be fixed by the KHSAA if we are to continue using RPI.

But you're ignoring the first part of my post. It isn't fair to judge the RPI this early in the season. If KHSAA would wait 3-4 more weeks until they release their initial RPI results then there wouldn't be this kind of strong reaction. In 3-4 weeks, that ranking will look completely different and much more accurate (outside of teams who have played out of state games).

I think we go through this same conversation every year when it is first released. It could all be avoided if KHSAA waited until week 6-8 to even start to release the RPI. It will change significantly by the end of the season. I still believe the only issue is the out of state games. If we fix that, it should be pretty accurate.

Got to watch Franklin County in a 7 on 7 this past Thursday that they hosted. While there is no pressure in 7 on 7, the QB really impressed me and made a lot of really smart decisions! Good to see Coach Peach calling plays as well!

Excited about Coach Sutton joining the staff! Did a lot of good stuff at Lindsey Wilson College. It will be interesting to see if he changes up the defense a lot or if they keep it similar to what they have been in the last couple of years!

Which is unfortunate because Stockdale has built some positive momentum there not only with the football team but with school culture as well.

I think it will be hard to attract anyone to the district with all the drama around what to do with the schools and the mixed feelings towards the super intendent. It would be hard for a coach to commit to going to that environment I think.

If memory serves me right, it was a similar timeframe after Shipley left, correct? It took them like 3 months to hire that time as well.

Didn't Mills come from Southwestern and Jason Foley's staff before going to Boyle?

Boyle has been doing something similar to this since 2014/15. It hasn't been just Haddix. This is no different then having weights in school and having multi-sport athletes take a weight class. The difference is that this is a football-specific group and they get to go a little longer than the regular 50 minute class. I think this is being hyped up and blown out of proportion. Lots of schools have workouts during the school day. The only thing special about this one is that it starts 30 minutes before school and runs through first period.
