  1. Bullitt East in 2008 went into the playoffs at 5-5 I believe. They ended up losing to Bell County in the 4A Title game.
  2. To me, (from an outsider who's opinion doesn't really matter) Larkey hasn't done enough at North Laurel to trump a shot at Blair or others. It doesn't seem like an automatic hire would make sense. Larkey Sr has done great things for the Rock Community but that doesn't mean Larkey Jr. should be an automatic shoe-in. Just my two cents. For the program's sake, I hope they keep an open mind about who they plan to hire and pick the best man regardless. Not trying to offend anyone, I wish the best of luck to the program and whoever they hire!!
  3. I feel like this is a very different situation from what happened with Clevenger at Danville. Clevenger was a winning coach who brought the title back to Danville for the first time in over a decade and Perry hasn't had a winning season in several years.
  4. The DC at Madison Central, William Blair is a Rockcastle alum, played in those state championships against Boyle, and has been successful as a DC at Southwestern and now at MC. He would be a great hire for that program as a hometown boy who would want to make a difference in that community.
  5. Haha, the one I've always heard was, "Dogs who chase cars, and teams who can't run the ball go home in November."
  6. I think neither team is going to be able to stop the other. I'm thinking a shootout but going to take Bethlehem because i believe they have more horses in the stable than KCD does. Bethlehem 35 KCD 28
  7. The SW kids are tough. I think they play with a chip on their shoulder and pull out the upset in a tight one! SW 28 FD 24
  8. Before this past week, I would have said Corbin and very comfortable with that answer. I think I'm going to have to go with Johnson Central this week though. I think they are disciplined and will be able to slow the game down and control the clock to pull out avery close one. Good luck to both teams!
  9. I'm very interested to see the result of this. X wins but by how much? Daviess has a great Offense and an average defense so my gut says this could be a high scoring game but in the end, X has the most discipline and is able to get key stops in momentsements that Daviess can't keep up. If X jumps on them early, then I think it will be more of a blowout. When you play names like X, Trinity, or Male you already have that doubt in the back of your mind as highschool kids. If things go wrong early... then it could get ugly quick.
  10. Mad Central Over BS Graves over Owensboro Mercer Over Cal
  11. There was a pos a couple of years ago where someone made a rating where the county as a whole and not the school was ranked. It had to do with population, number of schools in the county, and then successes and the Boyle County/Danville combo was literally not even close to the other counties on this list. If we think in the last two decades then there is no reason Boyle should not be number two next to Trinity and Danville still in the list. If we think further back then the last two decades, then where do we draw the line? There are teams of the past who were successful who no longer exist as a school.
  12. Pulling for the Madison Central upset in this one but Bryan Station is rolling pretty strong. This will be one of the better games this week!
  13. After last year and this year's game it almost seems as if there is a mental block that Graves has with Owensboro. I think they could beat them and they definitely have the offensive weapons to, but I'm not sure how much the kids are up to it. Either way I expect a tight one. Good luck to both teams!
  14. Boyle runs away with it a little more this time I think. Catholic is better than they've been in the last few years but I think Boyle learns from their first game and fixes some mistakes. Boyle 31 Catholic 14
  15. William Blair, the DC at Madison Central who has been getting a lot of praise this year was mentored pretty heavily by Coach French while he was at Southwestern. Justin Roe who was OC at Bourbon County for a while, Steven French the OC at Russell County and Zach Massengail who French took the program over from at Middlesboro but is still one of his guys on staff there also was with French at Boyle.
  16. Very surprised with how Collins season went. They have the kids to be a solid team and their offense is impressive for sure... but I thought their defense would have gotten better as the year progressed. Congrats to West Jess.
  17. Before the Boyle Job, the Silver Fox took Lincoln County to as good as they've ever been in recent memory. Coach French was also the one who built Southwestern back into a competitive, Top 10, 5A team after the program had been run into the ground. He also might have one of the most successful Coaching Trees in the State. Kentucky football as a whole could truly never thank him enough.
  18. I get the argument to say that Trinity is disappointing compared to other seasons but... they are still Trinity and may just win the whole thing. I don't think they are the favorite. I think the state game will be a Male-St.X rematch, but that being said, Trinity fills their schedule with top-tier, nationally ranked opponents every year. Just because they have lost to several out of state teams does not mean that they aren't still a top team in our state. Trinity lost Beatty this year and from what I understand they also had several transfers to X. I don't think they will beat Male or X in the playoffs, but the overriding points is that it would not surprise me in the slightest if they were back in the state game this year because they are still a really good football team. Those who are saying they are bad this year aren't reading between the lines.
  19. You gotta embrace mud if you play at SW or Pulaski! I’ve seen several games on mud pits in Somerset.
  20. I let all these parent coaches who watched both teams play convince me it’d a tighter game.
  21. I said Boyle would win by 2 scores but my God. I bought into the FD hype. Don’t Ever. Ever. Doubt Boyle County. Doesn’t matter the team, talent, or atmosphere. Who Ya With?!
  22. Excited to hear about this one tonight! Gotta love Kentucky football in October, November, and December!!!
  23. I know they still aren't very good... but Nelson County has also done a really good job of rebuilding this year. Coach Stockdale has got Nelson County on the right path for a slow rebuild and I think if they keep working, they could become a pretty competitive team here in the next couple of years. I take North Oldham by 14 in this one.
