With Montavin Quisenberry becoming the 3rd Mr. Football award winner at Boyle County it got me thinking about all the great talent that has came through Boyle County over the years. So, I thought I’d have a little fun on here and ask you all… who do you think is the Greatest Rebel of All-Time?

Jacob Tamme. Dude got 4 rings. Plus Montavin wasn't at Boyle County all 4 yrs the other players mentioned was.

Lamar Dawson was a bad, bad man.

My vote has to go to the Army All American - University of Southern California signee Lamar Dawson.  The others are all great players but Lamar like @BillNye said was a bad, bad man!

The greatest Rebel is Sean Alexander! The Boone County Rebel NFL MVP!

Played against MacShara and Dawson. Dawson was a grown man among boys.

There's many different ways to spin this.  As far as impact, I don't think there has been a more important player to the Rebels success and getting the "dynasty" started than Jeff Duggins.  He was box office in HS.  Every player mentioned was great in their own right though.

Nobody else probably old enough to remember…..Johnny Yuma.?

Thanks 9068.  Even Johnny Cash heard about him and described him as ….”panther quick and leather tough”.

Until someone gets to a super bowl in the NFL like Jacob Tamme did he sits on top of the pedestal. Hope for nothing but great things for Tavi and he continues to shine and hopefully we can watch him on Sundays in a few years as well.

Great list. But, surprised Matt Quinn is not on that list.

Mike Harmon.  Best running back Boyle had until coach Smith era.

In terms of impact in HS I would say Dawson.  Obviously football career as a whole would go to Tamme.

The topic is the greatest Rebel, not the Rebel with the greatest post-rebel career so while Tamme should be in the discussion, his career afterward shouldn't be a factor. In the early 2000s, it was Leffew, then Duggins, and then Tamme easily, in the late 2000's it was Macshara (Shocked he hasn't been talked about much) and Dawson. Then you have the late 2010s and 2020s with Reese Smith, followed by Quisenberry. This is similar to the Jordan/Lebron debate in that in their eras, each one of these players listed is the greatest Rebel. I have had the privilege of playing with or coaching several of the guys on this list. Being a Rebels sure has been special for a very long time and if you had asked me three years ago I would have said hands down Jeff Duggins was the best to ever put on the uniform. However, in the last three years, I have seen things on Friday nights I would have sworn physics would deem impossible. As it stands today in my opinion Quisenberry is the best to wear the black and gold. He is a generational talent, the likes we may not see again in Boyle County.

The best for the school and for the Community during his time and after his time have been Travis Leffew and Jacob Tamme. They not only established the culture of what the program is today but have come back to reinvest in the school and program time and time again.

However, the best player from an athletic standpoint and therefore what I believe the answer to this question is- is Lamar Dawson. Everyone in the country was recruiting him-and for a good reason.
