I think Barren can win. Will they? Your guess is as good as mine. I don't think either team will slow one another down much. Going to come down to turnovers and how many times these teams can get off the field. I do know that Coach Myers probably has the Scott County/BG tape and likely started salivating. Barren has nobody like Timmy Emongo, but if BGHS doesn't tackle well (again) or adjust to tendencies (again) or simply get lined up correctly (again)... It could very well be a stressful night. I will continue to support this group and hope for the best on Friday for the Purps, but this is as gettable as the district will ever be for the Trojans IMO.

Agree here, this is where I land on all of it too. Owensboro's offense with Ganaway is every bit as capable (if not more) as this Purples group. If you like offense, that game between BG and SC was likely game of the year. Maybe all the scoring would've been cool to me 10-15 years ago. But last Friday, all it told me, was that those two teams aren't very likely to win a state championship.

Indeed they were. Granted it was around 6-7 min left, the bigger issue is they didn't get off the field at all (literally). Just not a set up for success. Going in to the game asking your offense to score every time they touch it is asking for misery.

Bowling Green's defense is youthful and schematically flawed IMO. They'll put some points up but it's all very concerning. You can only hope for adjustments but the ability to stop the run has escaped BGHS for a while now. Hoping for the best.

And the defenses from 2011-2017 would be most embarrassed by all of this. We are a long way from those days, brother.

I'll be interested to see how much offense is going to take place. Head is leaning SC for now strictly on the Emongo factor. BGHS needs a solid bounce back week and they'll have their chance to show where they land in the early 5A picture.

Agree to disagree. Both instances you speak of the game already felt too far gone IMO. Maybe the first could be accounted for. However, the second "drop' was when it was 32-10 in the fourth. Again, the game felt essentially over mid way through the second quarter when they went up 25-0. Offensively I'm sure they'll regroup and be better but the other side of the ball, particularly stopping the run, is going to be a challenge. The next two weeks are set up to be pretty brutal if that is what we can expect.

Sure. But as said in my post, this is an average X team comparative to the decade+ of playing they've done with the Purples. If this was just about a defensive outing that would be one thing. BGHS couldn't stop anything X called. Rarely got off the field.

Bowling Green has the same issues as last year. Can't stop the run at all. Offense is a bunch of 15-16 year old kids trying to outplay grown men with suspect play calling. A very average X team just took them to the woodshed. The worst part is how it seemed like not a soul showed up to play. That's coaching and leadership. We blinked and X was up 25-0. The Purples aren't serious this season, again.
