We had the same thing in softball at NKU, NKU charges 3.00 thats the way it is, The good people at NKU let the High Schools use there place and I think that is great. I can remember when you used there ballfield you had to pay rent, I think we are lucky they let us use it when needed.

Complaining about $3.00 parking is laughable . Come on folks get a life !!

Folks when Brossart, Calvary, and Silver Grove were first placed in the 10th region and they attended their very first 10th Region All A meeting it was made very clear by the current schools in the 10th region that "hosting" was not the problem.....but rather the size of the gymnasium was. Just because other schools choose to pass does not mean Brossart should not. In fact the other schools should put more time and effort into hosting at an alternative venue rather than passing on it IF they have such an option. In fact Silver Grove hosted the baseball districts this past season at NCC's field when they traditionally pass on it.

 

The problem is that it takes a boat load of work to pull something of the magnitude of hosting a tournament when you have your own facility. Add on the fact that you are using somebody else's facilties and it becomes extremely difficult to organize and do.

 

I am sure Brossart will have all of their bases covered and trust me why would Brossart ask about a parking fee? If it was not brought up one woudl assume their is not one. And it does not surprise me in the least that NKU did not mention this until late.

With the price of gas being around $3.00 a gallon, you're going to spend that much just driving around the outskirts of NKU looking for a place to park that you won't get towed from. I guess $3.00 for parking or feeling lucky not to get towed and pay $75.00/$100.00? Me, $3.00 is cheap!

Thought the same thing. Plus I would rather pay $3.00 and be in the warm gym quicker watching warmups, eating fresh popcorn and meeting fans than spending that time sloshing through the cold and snow just to say I parked for free. Sorry but it would not be a difficult decision for me.

And for the ones that think Regents Hall is all that, are you kidding me? Campbell County Middle School would be plenty big enough for this event during any year. I actually hope now Mason County charges $5 to park this year at the region and raises ticket prices.

All In I am not in disagreement that having to pay for parking is something that non of us really do for high school events. And quite frankly we should not have to. I am wondering how the other school officials feel about this or is it a non issue for them.

 

But I still stand by my statement that others should be looking to host at alternative sites if that opportunity is available. It is a long week and it really is not fair to make the same group of people host so often.

So lets see: When I was a kid a candy bar cost five cents, a 12 oz pop a dime and I was forced (and I say that honestly) to go to the store and buy my Mom smokes that cost a quarter but today..... "All In" times change, even Theoldguy understand that!

I went to the Regional finals at Mason County last year with my 76 year old Dad. I would have loved to pay $3.00 to get a good parking spot.

Before everyone goes piling up on us, (Brossart), I'd like to clear a few things up....All we ask is to be given a chance. I would hate to see a great effort on our part to conduct a first-class event be totally overshadowed and only remembered becasue of a $3 parking fee. Give us a chance and then write the reviews following the tournament. I think we will pass muster with flying colors.
