Jason Bucklen
Your telling me that 33 million isn't fair? Smith wants WR and RB when he isn't going to get it. I wish the Bengals would have drafted Monroe instead.

sumoroyal
The Browns are cheap but they are in a bad spot. Pick before them was an oner paid QB and the pick afterwards just happens to be the Raiders and the grossly overpaid Heyward Bey. The Bengals will have to up the offer but they are in a bad spot on this one.

They drafted a guy to protect their QB who was destroyed last year and already had to sit out a preseason game b/c they can't protect the QB. They need to give Smith more than the #7 pick and move on.

They need to give Smith more than the #7 pick and move on. They are in a bad spot because the draft is based on their performance. They're also in a bad spot because they failed to take an initiative and get Smith signed BEFORE the others. If you're worried about the Raiders and/or Jets overpaying, then it is simple. Sign your guy before the others get deals.
sumoroyal
The Bengals and Mike and Katie never sign their pick until the pick before and the pick after so they do not overpay the pick one penny. This year that strategy has back fired big time. When was the last time the Bengals signed a pick early?????
Clyde
My bet is that Smith eventually does settle for slightly less than Bey or he gets a shorter contract or something. They're not going to pay more than what they see as fair. They'll let him sit.
cooperstown
Apparently Mikie Brown told Smith's agent that "the ship has sailed on the slotting system." Odd how the rest of the NFL seems to think it's pretty important. Only in the Alice in Wonderland world of Bengaldom would it not mean anything. HammerTime
Heard his agent left Cincy today with no deal obviously and it's very happy right now with Mr. Brown.
