HammerTime
For those of you that complain about Dunn striking out and then ask for Bruce to be called up here is something to think about. CTR: http://www.thelotd.com/ctrent * Speaking of strikeouts and walks, Jay Bruce has 24 strikeouts and six walks. This was the biggest concern for the previous administration. Those are the only stats that don't look great for the game's top prospect -- he's hitting .316 with five home runs and 19 RBIs and an OPS of .901. Still, 24 strikeouts in 98 at-bats is a huge red flag.

I'm sure that making those adjustments would greatly help his transition to major league pitching. Don't panic Reds fans, give it some time. Cueto, Volquez, Votto, Bruce, Bailey etc. will be good--but you ain't winning anything if you ruin their confidence and/or put them in situations that they can't produce in. AverageJoesGym
Not to mention bringing up Bruce now starts his arbitration clock. Not after the first 2 weeks of the season. That's why the Rays waited until then to bring Longoria up. At this point everything counts as 2009.

HOMELESS CAMEL
In his first season with Cincinnati (12-17) after being acquired in December from Texas in a trade involving outfielder Josh Hamilton, Volquez (4-0, 1.23 ERA) has emerged as the team’s ace. He hopes to become the second Reds pitcher in three years to start 5-0, joining Bronson Arroyo in 2006. The Reds swept three games from the Braves in their only visit to Atlanta last year, averaging seven runs in that series. Cincinnati will be looking for more of the same Friday as it has sputtered offensively since Volquez’s last start. Hudson was 2-0 with a 2.14 ERA and .167 opponents’ batting average in his first three starts of the year. Over his last three starts, he’s 1-2 with a 6.39 ERA while allowing opponents to hit nearly .400 against him. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/preview?gid=280502115

AverageJoesGym
Tampa Bay then signed Longoria to a multi-year contract, taking arbitration out of the equation for a while. Yeah but they waited until his the date passed that would have pushed his arbitration date back a year to bring him up. They were able to negotiate a contract after he had been up for 6 games--they were making sure they were covered in case he was unwilling to sign a long-term deal. Very smart move on their part, they seem to be building a good young team down there.

HOMELESS CAMEL
Any predictions on this weekend's series? You figure with the Reds "ace" on the mound, they would have a great chance to win tonight. It just might come down to Bronson to give this team a winning road trip. :scared:
SvFan4life
I think the Reds have a good chance this weekend just because the Braves have been struggling with pitching and hitting lately. I wish Jurrjens could have pitched against the Reds, him against Volquez would have been a good matchup of up and coming pitchers.
