On one of the radio shows today, they pointed out that at this time last since, the Cubs, the Phillies, the Yankees and the Rockies (played in the World Series) all had losing records that were comparable to the Reds record going into tonight's game.

May 3, 200818 yr I went to bed when the Reds fell behind 2-0, I figured with the way Hudson looked early, chances weren't good. Only getting 1 runner to 2nd base the whole game??? Unbelieveable. Jo-Jo Reyes (2-2, 6.22 ERA in 2007) will take the mound Saturday with a chance to earn a permanent spot in the rotation. The 23-year-old left-hander was dominant at Triple-A Richmond this April, posting a 1.17 ERA in five starts. Reyes had a rough time in two starts against the Reds (12-18) last season, going 0-1 while allowing nine runs, 12 hits and six walks over nine innings with only one strikeout. Cincinnati starter Matt Belisle (1-1, 9.00), who spent the first three weeks of April on the disabled list with right forearm soreness, has not fared well in his first two starts back, as opponents have batted .395 against him. The right-hander gave up four runs over five innings last Saturday at San Francisco, but benefited from plenty of offensive support and got credit for Cincinnati’s 10-9 win. Belisle has never started against the Braves. A recent playoff appearance? :sssh: :lol: I don't know anything about them aside from what I learned during last year's playoff run. They just really built up their minor league system and that a majority of their "stars" were homegrown. Reds are getting there.

The only place that the Reds have a clearly superior player is at second base where Phillips is superior to Matsui. Catcher and centerfield might be a wash but other than that the Rockies were better all around. The teams respective ERAs are just about the same but the Rockies averaged over 5 runs a game.

May 3, 200818 yr Hatteburg avg .135?? And he starts last night?? Why?? Both he and Votto are lefthanded. If Votto needs a break, stick Javy over there against a lefty. There is way too much dead weight on this roster. I like the way the pitching has been addressed. Can't say the same for field players. Hopefully Jocketty is the one to see what a mess this roster is.

Like I said if you take last season's Rockies lineup and compare it to this season's Reds lineup The Reds are only signifigantly better at one postition, second base. The Rockies had a bad April last season but they had the team to turn things around--the current makeup of the Reds roster doesn't.
May 3, 200818 yr Hatteburg has to go. There is no need for him on this team. The Reds should be able to get something decent for him. No one is going to give the Reds anything of value for Hatteberg when they can wait for the Reds to drop him and pay just the pro-rated part of his salary.
May 3, 200818 yr Freel JR BP Votto E-5 Dunn Kepp Ross Belittle Dusty did say during last nights pre-game that Freel would start today and tomorrow. I'm sure everyone might have thought it was based on Patterson looking awful, but that has nothing to do with it. :lol:
