It isn't doing him any good to pitch in the majors the way he's throwing right now either. His last 4 starts look like this: IP 21 2/3 H 26 R 20 ER 19 HR 4 K 15 BB 6 ERA 7.89 The hits and walks aren't that horrible on the surface. However, Cueto has to realize that, although he's got great stuff, lots of people in the big leagues do and he's not pitching to AAA batters anymore. He simply gets too much of the plate when he tries to just blow the ball by people. He didn't give up any homers tonight but that is why he's struggled with the long ball and why when he give up hits he gets hit HARD. He's got a long, long way to go.

April 30, 200818 yr He's getting the ball up... He is a little guy, and a guy with his build that throw as hard as he does, have to use their entire body to throw and generate speed.... It could be simply mechanics, if he is elevating the ball, then it is release point/follow through... His velocity is down a shade..at 96+ you can get it by hitters up in the zone, 91-92 it is meat. I didn't see both innings, but it looked like he could not get the change over and was relying on the fastball...then again, he shatters Ankiel's bat and Phillips almost makes the catch...he makes it then he is out of the inning down 3-0. Not overly concerned at this stage...watching Dunn look like a wiggie-fife in leftfield trying to make a throw just reinforces the fact he is not good in the field.

He's now given up at least 5 runs in 3 of his 6 starts. Giving up at least 5 earned runs in a start is not pitching well or really even keeping your team in the game. He's been below average in HALF of his starts.

Talk about overreaction on both counts. Cueto is a young pitcher, and 99 percent of young pitchers have their ups and downs. Get used to it.

From what I know of his personality, he'll be fine long term...
April 30, 200818 yr I don't know brother.. if I was running the bases and heard Adam Dunn make contact first off, then realize it's coming at me, I would probably be a deer in the headlights. I'm thankful he didn't get hurt. No offense to you but these are Major League players. They should be able to get out of the way of a batted ball.
