What is your home town. And what can you do at the lake, fishing, boating, hiking?

I live in Morehead and you can fish, hike, camp and boat at cave run. The lake has some pretty nice campgrounds and there are a couple ok beaches as well. If you like to hike there are lots of trails to hike on and fishing is pretty good too. It's actually the best Muskie lake in the south.

Just to add a few more:

Falls of The Ohio, technically not KY but it is close enough.

Actually, you're technically incorrect. Kentucky owns the Ohio River all the way to the Indiana shoreline (and Ohio and Illinois). Now whether there's a decent viewing spot of the Falls from the Ky side is a different story.

I thought otherwise because I had read somewhere that the power generated by the falls goes to Indiana and not Kentucky. Of course there may not even be any generators over there either for all I know.

KY Wool Fest? What exactly is that and where?

The Wool Festival a giant craft fair with country-style entertainment, demonstrations and tons of food. It's well worth the trip if your end to the rustic kind of thing. It's in Falmouth.

Oh....and lots of wool.

On a quiet, peaceful night here in Worthington, Ky - if you listen real close :sssh: you can hear the grass grow:D . That is about the most exciting thing that happens around here.

Then starting in late August, the two small communities meet at Raceland Rams Stadium on several Friday nights to cheer on the Rams H.S. football.

Lots of food, music, crafts, farm animals, etc. It's a great atmosphere, especially if it's a nice, cool weekend. As much as I love the heat, the Wool Fest is just not the same in short and T's.

The Wool Fest is actually held on land right next to Kincaid Lake State Park.

My hometown is Warsaw, in Gallatin County, which I believe is the smallest county in the state, land-wise.

Most people are aware of Gallatin County through the Kentucky Speedway, which is in Sparta near I-71. But the county still retains a nice rural charm, despite the invasion of folks from Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati on the upper end of the county where awful cookie-cutter subdivisions are eating up the farmland. The county's population has doubled in the last decade or so, and is one of the fastest-growing counties in Ky because of this invasion.

One of my favorite things to do when visiting home is take a nice country cruise through the farmlands out on the river bluffs; lots of great stuff for a photographer like myself.

Plus, with the river and extensive backwater, our county is a popular destination for pleasure boating and fishing.

There's not much in terms of restaurants worth mentioning. DQ, Hometown Pizza, the kind of stuff you'd expect in small-town Ky. However, the Belterra Casino is just across the river, and they provide dining options aplenty, as well as other entertainment. There is a pretty good restaurant out by the race track; it just so happens to be connected to Racer's, Gallatin County's destination of choice for gentlemens' entertainment.

Interestingly enough, at the intersection of US 42 and US 127 midway between Warsaw and Glencoe is the big bend in the Ohio River. It just so happens to be the widest spot along the entire length of the Ohio, and it's always neat watching the barges negotiate the turn, especially if two meet in the bend.

The Markland Dam is on US 42 west of Warsaw. It's pretty cool watching the barges lock through, and has a nice picnic area. There's also a nice riverfront park in the middle of Warsaw that's good for picnicking and watching the boats.

But my favorite activity of all when I go home is sitting in mom and dad's back yard with good music, a good book and a good stiff drink, just watching the river lazily flow by.
