Track the Braves

^ Yeah Redman is horrible. Braves gave him a 3-0 lead and he immediately gave up 4 runs in the next inning.

On a good note the bullpen done pretty well, and Chipper Jones continued his hot hitting by knocking out 2 more homeruns and driving in all 4 Atlanta Runs.

Braves beat the Phillies again tonight with a final score of 4-3. Braves led 3-0 early with Chuck James on the Hill, but after a 3-run homerun by Ryan Howard the lead was gone. Braves loaded the bases in the 7th with no out but managed only 1 run, but it was good enough because that proved to be the winning run. Great relief by the Braves tonight, Tyler Yates pitched a perfect 7th, and Mike Gonzlaez came in the 8th and struck out both Ryan Howard and Chase Utley.

Braves move to 17-10, .5 games ahead of th Mets for 1st in the NL East .

Braves are 5-1 against the Phillies this year.

Braves lose to the Dodgers on Saturday, despite another great pitching performance by Tim Hudson, who suffered his first loss of the season.

Braves beat the Dodgers on Sunday in comeback fashion. Braves trailed 4-1 in the 7th but rallied against the strong Dodgers bullpen to score 5 runs and take the lead 6-4. Also in the 7th inning was Chipper Jones and Bobby Cox for arguing a check swing strike out. The call was questionable but no reverse was made.

Braves move to 19-11 on the season but are still .5 games behind the Mets for 1st in the NL East. They could move into a tie if the Mets lose today's game.

Braves beat the Padres again tonight but this time it meant a little more because for the first time in 11 years former teammates John Smoltz and Greg Maddux squared off. For most of the game it was a pitching duel but Smoltz gave up 2 solo homeruns and Maddux took a 2-1 lead into the 7th inning. After the padres retired the first two batters Kelly Johnson and Willie Harris each hit singles bringing up Chipper Jones who hit a ground rule double to tie the game at 2. Andruw Jones continued his hot streak against the Padres by hitting the go ahead single Giving the Braves a 3-2 lead. Mike Gonzalez pitched a scoreless 8th and Rafael Soriano pitched a scoreless 9th for his 4th save of the year. Tomorrow's game concludes a 4 game series as the Braves try to take 3 of 4 in the series.

Braves are still tied for 1st in the NL East with the New York Mets.

Braves take 2 of 3 from the Pirates losing their finale today by a score of 13-2 Didn't catch much details from the game but do know that rookie Anthony Lerew was the losing pitcher. Braves stay 1/2 game up on the Mets.

Ok to update the Braves over the course of the last week or so:

They fell flat on a 4-6 road trip that included losing 2 of 3 to the Boston Redsox where pitching wasn't too good for either team. They fell 2 1/2 games behind the Mets, who took 2 of 3 from the Yankees.

But last night they turned it around. The Braves, sending Kyle Davies to the mound, played like champs with good defense, great pitching, and oustanding hitting. Davies, who has been very inconsistent, got off to a great start and only allowed 1 run in 8 innings of work. To top that, with the Braves leading 5-1, Davies sent a 3-1 fastball over the center field wall for a 3-run homerun, his first hit of the season. Braves picked up a game on the Mets after the win last night and now just trail the Mets by 1 1/2 games.

Braves send Chuck James to the mound tonight to face off against Mets starter Oilver Perez. Tonights game begins at 7:30 and will be televised on TBS.

Thursday's finale will feature John Smoltz for the Braves who is going for win#200 and Tom Glavine going for the Mets who is inching closer to 300 wins for his career.

Well the Braves have had a rough go of it lately. They've lost 10 of their last 14 games, and the lone bright spot was taking 2 of 3 from the Mets. Today the Braves got swept at home by the Phillies, which coincided with the Mets sweeping the Florida Marlins. This drops the Braves 4 1/2 back and only 2 games in front of the Phillies now. One thing that is causing problems during this stretch has been the alarming lack of production from Andruw Jones, who only drove in one run during this three game sweep by the Phils. Another is that Chipper Jones missed his fourth straight game. Lastly the pitching has started causing trouble again, as Davies is continuing to experience growing pains and suddenly Hudson looks very fallible, losing his last 2 and 3 of five as his ERA has climbed steadily from .62 on April 20th to 2.79 on May 25th.

The Braves will look to get back on track on the road with a 6 game road trip taking them through Milwaulkee and Chicago against the Cubs before returning home for a 7 game homestand in early June.

Well this thread has been dead for a while but the Braves have not. While not being able to take advantage of the Mets slump in early July the Braves have atleast kept pace with the Mets. Right now they are 3.0 games back of the Mets and .5 games back of the Wildcard with a win tonight they would be tied.

On the trade front the Braves seem to be the frontrunner for 1st baseman Mark Texiera from the Rangers. Although the Braves would have to give up some of the best prospects they have, if they can sign Mark to an extension it'd be worth it to add another .300 hitter to the lineup and likely be Andruw's replacement in the batting order in 2008.

Braves look to sweep the 3 game series of the Giants tonight when they send Chuck James to the mound to face-off against Giants pitcher Noah Lowry.
