April 29, 200719 yr ^ Wickman faltering is blowing everything. The closer spot was the one plus for the Braves last year, and the reason for a lot of the early success this year was that put together with an improved bullpen, they were finally solid. Now they're blowing all these games late. Braves eventually lose in 11 innings on a two run walkoff homer.
April 29, 200719 yr Author ^ He is killing me! I was a fan of his but now I'm starting to think he isn't physically 100% right now. No reason to put the team in jeopardy if you know you're not well enough to pitch. He walked the bases loaded, no excuses. Time for Yates, Gonzalez, or Soriano to take over the closers role for now!
April 29, 200719 yr Author The bullpen will keep the Braves from making the postseason. And why do you say that? They have 3 blown saves and their bullpen is 7-3 on the year. They stand a lot better than some of the other teams. If the Braves don't make it then we can say that the Yankees won't make it either.
April 30, 200719 yr I never said anything about the Yankees. What do they have to do with the Braves? Braves rank 12th of 16 in team ERA, 77% save percentage, and four relief pitchers with an ERA over 4. The fact their bullpen already has ten decisions tells me they either can't keep a lead or they enter a bunch of tied games.
April 30, 200719 yr Author I never said anything about the Yankees. What do they have to do with the Braves? Braves rank 12th of 16 in team ERA, 77% save percentage, and four relief pitchers with an ERA over 4. The fact their bullpen already has ten decisions tells me they either can't keep a lead or they enter a bunch of tied games. Entering tied games has nothing to do with the bullpen. And The Tigers and White Sox have more blown saves than the Braves so does that mean that those teams are going to miss the playoffs? And I was talking about the Yankees, You said the Braves will miss the playoffs due to their bullpen and I was just stating the facts tht the Yankees have 1 save in 8 save opportunities. So based on your reasoning the Yankees will miss out on the postseason too. It's ok to be a Braves hater just don't use facts that are useless right now!
April 30, 200719 yr 12th in ERA doesn't seem useless. The Braves do not have the offensive firepower the Yankees have. When a bullpen has a lot of decisions, it means they either blow leads that their team comes back to win or it means they enter the game when the Braves are losing and they come back to win. Just because someone has a differing opinion it doesn't mean they are a hater. It just means I don't wear the blue and red glasses of Atlanta fans.
April 30, 200719 yr Author Braves just traded OF'er Ryan Langerhans to Oakland for cash and a player to be named later!
May 1, 200719 yr Author Braves beat the Phillies 5-2 tonight behind another strong performance by Tim Hudson. Braves lead 1-0 early then trailed 2-1 before a solo homerun by Chipper Jones, his 8th of the year. The game stayed knotted at that into the 9th inning when, with 2 on, Andruw Jones hit a walk-off 3-run homerun, only the 3rd walk off homerun of his career. Braves move back into first place by .5 games.
May 1, 200719 yr Author Seems like the Braves are coming back to win a lot so far. If I'm not mistaken this is their 7th or 8th comeback win of the season. I know they have 3 or 4 when they are trailing after the 7th inning. They are a good clutch hitting team this year. The majority of their runs have came with 2 outs and at one point 19 of Jeff Francouers 25 RBI's had came with two outs.
May 1, 200719 yr Author ^ My mistake it was Andruws 6th career walk-off homerun. On a side note Braves place closer Bob Wickman on the DL.
May 2, 200719 yr braves lose to the phils. 6-4...redman looked pretty bad again. I think the phils left about 30 on bases tonight...no sure how many were in scoring position. braves still .5 ahead of METS
