Differences to be settled in the latest chapter of the Pulaski County Civil War

Records: Southwestern (7-1), Pulaski County (6-3)

BGP Ranking: Southwestern (#6 in 5A), Pulaski County (#9 in 5A)

Series History: Pulaski County leads 17-16 all-time

Table Setter: This has long been one of the better rivalries in 5A, with the Warriors and Maroons trading wins and district titles over the last ten years. Backyard and district bragging rights are routinely on the line. Both teams come in ranked, with Southwestern suffering one loss this year, shorthanded at Mercer County. Pulaski County has rebounded from a three game skid to win five in a row.

The return of quarterback Drew Polston from an early season injury has been a key factor in the Maroons return to top 10 form. In keeping with recent tradition, they'll sink or swim with their quarterback. Right now they're swimming, with Polston accounting for 18 touchdowns over the last five weeks. With the loss of Barek Williams to injury, receiver Chandler Godbey has emerged as Polston's primary target and one of the leading pass catchers in the class with a 5A leading 54 receptions and 10 touchdowns.

Southwestern likes to do the bulk of its damage on the ground, with a backfield that goes about five deep. Top three rushers Tanner Wright, Giddeon Brainard, and Christian Walden have combined for over 1,600 yards and 10 yards per carry. The defensive front seven has been menacing for opponents, with Cody Harmon, Brainard, John Poe, Ezra Major, and Maddox Mink combining for 76 tackles for loss and 24 sacks.

Pulaski County claimed a tight regular season game last year before Southwestern's running game came alive in the playoffs. Wright, Brainard, and Crisp combined for 356 yards in the three score Warriors win.

I am all for kids playing on as many high school fields as possible but this kind of thing is a no go.

The powers that be decided to have a youth game and youth league recognition since it's a bowl game.. I didn't get a vote..
