To me, for Covington Catholic QB Caleb Jacob needs to be as good as he was last year.  He was 16 for 24 for 240 yards, 3 TDs and 1 INT.  Pretty darn good!  From the talk on the board, it would appear that CovCath also has some injuries they are dealing with.  How are they progressing based on @bluecolonels95 post on page 2 I think?

For the Purples, they gained only 58 yards on the ground last year and that obviously didn't get it done.  They are averaging 150 yards a game.  Can the Purples gain their average or more on Friday night?  QB Conner Cooper is playing well, if the passing game doesn't prove fruitful, he is blessed with terrific running abilty to support the BG offensive attack.

How many yards to you see BG rushing for on Friday?

That Calpreps prediction looks pretty solid.  If anything, I would say that score is on the high side. Bowling Green's defense appears to be outstanding and Covington Catholic's defense is always top notch. I could see this being a very low scoring game. I will go with Bowling Green winning 14-10. As always though in these close games, turnovers are the wild card. Turnovers being equal, 14-10 Bowling Green.

I think the issue with what you said, is you deciding for someone else how much value $15 can be to someone. When you have zero idea what $15 might mean to someone. Which, is the reason for the comments you received. Which you just did it again with this post.

Definitely the most frustrating part of the season, especially with a 3 year starter at QB and a WR who both have FCS offers (yes, I know, Morehead, but still.)

I think all alums/fans/parents were hoping for the AJ jump with Caleb when AJ went from a good player as a junior to arguably the best player in the state as a senior. It just hasn't happened, maybe there not really being an off-season is to blame for that, but all the other teams had to deal with that too.

A whole lot of saltiness regarding streaming/charging in this thread. On one hand it's surprising, on another, I get it. 

One thing I'd ask the mob against the schools that charge for streaming to consider...putting on a quality broadcast is very different - both in logistics/cost/equipment/preparation - than turning on an Iphone or Ipad and just filming the game and calling it a "broadcast". There's a very real cost involved that isn't just a drop in the bucket. 

Further, the cost of running these athletic programs - that benefit alot of kids and communities by the way - isn't cheap. Some schools do the bare minimum, some do a lot...the social economic climate isn't consistent across the board on either front. Some schools are hit hard by COVID restrictions and have to recop money somehow.

If this is only for one year, why the vitriol?

It’s most likely because us Bowling Green fans are used to high quality, free broadcasts for all of our games.  I obviously want free broadcasts for this game too, but I understand why schools do charge.

I think most fans want the high quality broadcast they are use to seeing. In BG’s instance, they have D93 and The Sporting Times that cover them all year long. If I’m not mistaken, they were able to broadcast them last year during the semi-finals. I think they would like to be allowed to provide their home fans with video coverage like they have all year long, especially now during Covid times when tickets are extremely limited. Listening to one-sided commentary isn’t always the best lol. I think everyone has taken a hit from Covid.. just placing the expense on the ones that can’t do anything about it seems to be a trend in the country tho! 
 

Regardless, there will be a great game played on Friday night. Some kids will be playing their last HS Friday night football game. The least of their worries is the streaming. Let’s focus on why we’re here.. to point out who and why we think one team is better than the other lol!

Remember we live in a society where everyone wants everything for free without thinking of the time and effort that goes into doing a great Broadcast.?

Bowling Green hasn’t had too many opportunities for it, but it is worth noting that the Purples have never beaten a private school in the postseason - they’re 0-4, and three of those losses came to CovCath. 
 

I do feel a lot stronger about Bowling Green’s momentum though. They certainly look like the team peaking. 

I get Cov Cath charging $15 for the regular season games to try and recoup lost gate money. Most if not all purchasers during the regular season are going to be fans on the teams that are playing. However when you get to the semi finals I think there is a lot of casual interest involved.  Since I have no dog in the fight if the game were free I would 100% turn it on. If it were $5 I would be more likely to get it. At $15 I would only get it if I was a fan of the one  team or one of the teams had an impact player that would going to UK ie. Tim Couch.

This is correct. And $15 is ridiculous. However my main issue is not letting the local radio do a video broadcast and forcing everyone to use the home teams broadcast.

Our local radio has spent a ton of money investing in video broadcasts as well. They've been able to stream every Bowling Green game the last two seasons for free. And almost every school didn't charge the radio a fee either. However I believe CC may have charged the radio station a fee last year to video broadcast. I'm not positive, but I think that's correct.

And i am fine with that. But they didn't even give that option this year apparently.

A lot of things to consider but when it gets to be this late in the season I tend to lean towards the better defense. I believe Bowling Green has that.
