Oh trust me, I love Cooper.  I think he’s a brilliant quarterback, especially in the system at BG.  I just think Caleb Jacob might be a bit better, I sincerely hope to be proven wrong.  I honestly could be wrong as I saw that running QBs do quite well against Cov Cath, and BGs defense is playing lights out.

 

Edit: After seeing Jacob’s numbers, I’ll take Connor Cooper any day of the week.  Especially with how he’s playing.

I think if Cooper would’ve had another full year last year of making the team “his” he would’ve been more developed earlier this year. He had to “share” snaps for no reason other than the other kid was a “SENIOR”. He’s played lights out since mid season. 
Having 2 full seasons at the “Head of the Ship” makes a huge difference. I’m ready to watch this battle unfold!!

I know all about that situation, and I agree with you.  He really has developed into a great addition to the offense, especially when the play calling is on point.  Which is why I trust Bowling Green so much in this game.

CCH didn’t have the normal schedule this year due to COVID, however, several of the guys played last year against LaSalle and FD, which I’d believe had a lot more  D-1 talent than either CCH or BG. 

Does BG have any D-1 guys outside of the TE this year?

BG has a ton of D1 attention. Cooper, the QB, recently picked up a WKU offer. Lightfoot on the D-line is hearing from Cincinnati A LOT. Wouldn’t surprise me if that whole D-line went D1! Bunton is also a D1 back in many peoples eyes. Unfortunately, Covid hasn’t been kind to these 2021 kids in terms of the offers being plentiful.

D-1, I doubt it, although Connor Cooper is a preferred walk on at WKU.  Competition can’t always be measured by amount of D-1 players though.  I understand CCH not being able to schedule the same due to COVID, it’s no knock on them, they always schedule tough.  
 

As you and I both mentioned, the players who have experience will understand the circumstances with playing an opponent like this, and so will the coaches.  I look at CCH a lot like SW or Saint X, very well coached and athletic.  
 

Fun Fact: In 2016, the last dominant year of BG in 5A, only three players went on to play D-1 football.  One of those being a freshman.

Thanks for the info! Sounds like BG has some real talent.  This year with COVID has really put a damper on recruiting, a real shame for these kids. CCH has some kids getting D1 attention as well, just tough when coaches can’t get out to watch the games.

I get it. Not getting to go to the game sucks. Not getting to watch your own broadcast sucks. Few things are more annoying than someone who chooses to send their child to a private school whining about the cost of of that choice. Extremely annoying.

Every school has lost gate money this year, be it private or public. Public schools rely on that gate money to support their programs too.

Thank you for covering that for me, I’m glad you’re more knowledgeable on that subject than me!  100% agree on Bunton and I’m glad Lightfoot is getting attention. Burwash is also getting a lot of attention for baseball.

This might be my favorite post of yours ever. Completely agree!

As for the game it should be a great one. I’m taking Bowling Green to win 21 to 17. 

I like BG to finally knock out CC this year. Defensively, they are solid. Very tough to have sustained drives on. Offensively, they are peaking. Cooper is getting comfortable in the pocket and when he does scramble he keeps his eyes down field until last second.  That has been his biggest weakness until now. He's hitting 2nd and 3rd reads now and will also scramble and hit guys getting open. Dingle is a reliable guy who can catch in traffic and take a big hit at the same time. He's also an absolute stud at blocking.  He helps win games whether he makes a bunch of receptions or not.  Burwash is a great deap threat that is as good of an athlete as anyone on the field, and their slot Strode, who nobody ever talks about, has been a solid receiver since the Mccracken Co game (4th game of year).Before that game he hadn't had a catch and since then he's lead the team in either receptions, yards, or tds in 4 out of the last 6 games (not counting Trinity game). Throw Javy Bunton into the mix out of the backfield and thats 4 senior weapons that will be tough for CC to cover. BG 28- CC 14

Before I make my prediction, do we know if any of the CCH players that will not be playing this week due to injury? If Nally, France, Stegman are out then we have a slim chance. Just curious. 

Defense wins championships, and BG has one of the best in the state. Playmakers at all three levels. (Knee, Gurley, Lightsfoot) (Jones at LB) (Bert/Augustine/Rainville/Burwash). Also Bowling Green's offense has hit its stride, with Cooper playing with more confidence than ever. I don't see Michael Mayer on this year's roster for Cov Cath (He was a nightmare last year!) Purples need to play physical in order to match up with the size of Cov Cath. The long bus ride is always something to factor in, especially in high school. So the Purples must prepare well and come into this game to avoid a similar game as last year. Good luck to both squads, it'll be a good one!

Charging $15 for a broadcast is just greed. You could charge half that and get twice the amount of viewers. Or maybe they don't care about anyone purchasing the feed other than their own fans, could be that too.
