I think we are seeing different things. You said you were not happy with the success rate of pro and colleges so far. Then just now said it again, when you said multiple players are testing positive, like it is something to be shocked and worried about for the KHSAA. Which imo the numbers aren’t alarming at all and were expected.  Which gets back to what was your expectation? Was your expectation that teams weren’t really going to have positive cases? If so, then that is a very unrealistic expectation. 
 

So the KHSAA looking at positive test in colleges and pros right now should be meaningless. Because it wouldn’t have been a realistic expectation to think there wouldn’t be some positive test. It is just about being willing to accept that there will be some Positive test, while taking as many precautions as you can to limit it. Then if it does spike, then make changes when necessary. There shouldn’t be a worry from the KHSAA about some positive test in Pros and college, because that was to be expected and would have been unrealistic to think otherwise.

With a pandemic, there is no such thing as an "expectation".  Have you every experienced one before (and the recovery)?  I'm 59 and I haven't. My "expectation" is that numbers would be hopefully as low as possible.  I realize some will get the virus.  It happens.  But it is disappointing if people directly or indirectly get the virus because of careless behavior (their own or because of others).

KHSAA is made up of human beings.  Of course, if they are smart, they are looking at all aspects of this in order to keep players, coaches, fans, etc safe.  Professional and college teams have the money to set up extraordinary methods to protect and test.  I fear that most high schools will not have the resources/funds to do the same.  What factor do you want to use for the high school level for number of cases in comparison to professional or college? 

I am anxiously waiting for the results of Friday's meeting regarding fall sports.  

I have heard from unofficial sources of the possibility of only allowing family members to attend high school football at Central Hardin this fall. I hope this is not the case. If it is, how does this affect funding of not only football but the band that runs concessions during home games? Not sure if the band will be allowed at games either?

Has anyone else had school plans for fan participation at Kentucky high school games discussed?

I would think that is a fluid, day by day situation.  Gotta make sure you can have a season before figuring out if you'll let non family members in.  Financially, if only family members are allowed to attend, I can't see any way that some teams will be able to stay in business, especially considering how hard it will be to fundraise given the current economic and health situation. I really don't think we'll start seeing real progress or talk until the KHSAA gives an update.

And as @thedeuce mentions, I don't see how you'll be able to determine who is family and who isn't.

Even at a 20% discount, that's still $1000 for 50 helmets. For some schools that's no big deal, but for many it will, especially with lack of money coming in. The other issue is schools who use multiple helmet brands (and many do to accomodate different sizing and to keep vendors honest)...would the Schutt piece fit Riddell or Xenith helmets?  Or is there a universal shield available?

You are missing the point. Obviously college and pro teams were going to have positive cases, because those players are going to get tested all the time. So it is no surprise, that there have been some positive test at the college and pro level. If someone didn’t think there would be, then that is very unrealistic. Which quite honestly the number of players who have tested positive for college and pro teams is pretty small. Yet you seem to be acting like they are shockingly high numbers, when they really aren’t. I don’t think those numbers at all, really tell the KHSAA much of anything on what to do. It should be expected that there are going to be some positive cases, it’s just about having as many safety measures as you can in place to limit it.

And you don't get it that I am trying to have a forward thinking conversation.  I don't want an argument with you - never asked for it.  It's like you hit "play" on a recording of your own making and can't listen to any thoughts that aren't on your recording.  I naturally have some concerns.  I'm hopeful for the best for high school football.  Instead of being emphatic and reasonable, you go into attack mode...very almost everybody.  Very irritating.  I'm done.

At this point America is going to have to make a choice, are we going to shut down the whole country or are we going on living and let people with underlying conditions do the smart thing and stay home because I don’t think this is going anywhere I think the whole country will eventually get or have already had it and didn’t even know.

Why are you upset with fc? All he’s saying is that the lenses you’re looking at what college teams and pro teams are doing, doesn’t make any logical sense. They’re doing way better than the rest of the country is. I’m not sure what you’re upset about. He didn’t say anything except try to  tell you to look at it a different way. 

OSU is shutting down all voluntary workouts.

Just saw on the news that the IVY league schools have just shut down all fall sports for the league for this fall.
