Week 2 of district play for both of these ball clubs and both are coming off of different weeks. Larue County enters 5-0 after beating Butler County 41-14 last week (41-0 at half btw), while Adair is 4-1 but had their first wake up call last week as they were down 42-7 at half to Glasgow and the final score ended up just that. Larue has been a balanced football team this year with QB Brady Abell, a solid RB, and 2 big time receivers in Colvin and B. McDowell. Adair is led by their dual threat QB Braxton Mckinney and RB Callum Darnell who both have been explosive this season. They key in this one will be which team can slow down the others offense as both want to play with tempo and put up points.

Adair survives 26-21. This game came down to the wire as McCreary had a pass picked off in the end zone as time expired. McCreary's rushing attack bothered Adair all night long, while Adair had numerous explosive plays and multiple called back do to penalties. Adair's RB had 115 yds rushing but easily could have had over 200 if not for the penalties. Adair now improves to 4-0 and will head to 4-0 Glasgow next week.

Adair County comes in at 3-0 after throttling Casey County 69-18 last week, while McCreary Central put up a big win over Clinton County to move to 2-1. These teams met last season where McCreary came away with the win in a tight contest. The question will be does Adair's high powered offense play like it did in 2 of the first 3 games or will we see McCreary be able to slow them down and control tempo like Metcalfe Co. did holding them to 14 points.

Adair hosts Mccreary Central next week, they only defeated Casey County 36-22 the previous week, so another good chance for a win. So a very good chance them and Glasgow are both 4-0 when they meet up.

The Indians are now 3-0 in the Cameron Dukes era and the offense exploded tonight. This game was 13-12 at one point but then Adair scored 42 straight points. Callum Darnell led the Indians with I believe 7 touchdowns which pretty sure could be a program record. As far as I know this is also the second most points ever scored by an Adair team. The most being in 2014 when the Indians scored 74.

Adair comes in 2-0 to start the Cameron Dukes era with wins over Russell County and Metcalfe County. Casey enters 0-2, but was competitive last week with Mccreary Central. Adair won this one pretty easily last year, but this seems to be an improved Casey County team so expect it to be more competitive.

It was not pretty in Edmonton tonight but Adair survives after being down 6-0 majority of the game. Metcalfe had the ball 3 times at Adairs red zone but only came away with 6 points. Adair is now 2-0 in the Cameron Dukes era and will host Casey County next week looking to win a 3rd straight.

The Cameron Dukes era as head coach started with a bang as the Indians rolled over rival Russell County tonight. Dukes brought a more high powered style offense and QB Braxton Mckinney was excellent going 16-25 for 193 yards. Callum Darnell added over 100 yards on the ground as well as a 100 yard INT return for a TD. Adair will head to Metcalfe County next week looking to start 2-0.

The Indians and Lakers square off in their annual rivalry game to start the season with both coming off of 3-8 seasons. Russell County won this contest last year 32-9, though it was a closer game than the score indicated. Adair County brings in a new 1st time head coach in former Lindsey Wilson National Champion QB Cameron Dukes who takes over and will look to bring a more balanced offensive attack. The Indians had many injuries to QB last year but junior Braxton Mckinney coming off of a knee injury will be the starter, and RB Callum Darnell returns in the back field and will carry a lot of the load. Russell County returns Tanner Stringer at QB who was sensational last season in both the run and pass game from the QB position.

Still without a head coach and did not have a summer ball schedule. Know of at least 1 coach who turned this down.

Right now that district is down besides North Hardin. Etown has some young talent but they don't have elite talent like a few years back. John Hardin is down also talent wise. The chance to make region is there for the next coach.

Caverna is now filled. Assistant coach Jason Scott has taken over as head coach.

Really good hire by Cumberland County. Brockman always did well winning with lesser talent at Metcalfe.

Have heard a former 5th region head coach in the last 5 years as a name involved in this one.

Believe they should keep district tournaments. Mainly because having them provides an opportunity for teams year in and year out who may not be region title contenders a chance to win a championship. Will use the 4th region for example. The region champion the last 25 years has been either Warren Central or Bowling Green, besides the 1 time occurrence that Greenwood won it. So that means 2 teams out of like 17 in a region have a favorable chance to really win a championship that year if you did away with districts.

This job isn't officially open, and may not end up being open.

Caverna lost all 7 seniors that had rotational minutes. It will be a complete rebuild with very young talent next year for whoever takes over.

Adair loses their 3 leading scorers George, Blakey, and Gilbert all who are the top 3 scorers. They return Shehan who started as a sophomore, as well as 4 juniors who played rotational minutes, and a 6'8 freshman in Truk Jennings who had rotation minutes.

Adair County wins its 7th straight region tournament game as it looks to keep going on its quest for a 3 peat. The Indians controlled this one from the trip and Bardstown would hang around and cut it to 4 a couple of times but Adair hung around an 8-12 point lead all night. The Indians had Tylin George, Landon Blakey, and John Shehan all with 20 point double doubles. Adair will be back in action Monday night to face North Hardin in the semifinals.

First round is Wednesday and Thursday. Semis Monday, Finals Tuesday

Adair handled Larue fairly easy when they played. It is very interesting how well Larue has played Caverna though beating them once without Lightning and losing only by 2 when he was eligible. Also Adair had North down 1 in the 4th at North the other night so not a huge gap there either.

Glasgow (8-5) vs Johnson Central (11-2) 8:00 PM Murray (13-2) vs CAL (8-4) 10:30 AM CT Boyd County (11-4) vs Henry County (8-8) 1:30 PM CT Adair County (13-3) vs Bell County (12-2) 5:00 PM CT This is the bracket of teams and first round matchups for the KY 2A State boys tournament in Owensboro this weekend. Should be some intriguing matchups as 4 of the 8 participating teams are ranked in at least 1 of the multiple top 25 polls by different sites. Bell County, Adair County, CAL and Boyd County are all ranked in at least 1 poll with Bell County and Boyd both being consistently ranked in the top 10-15.

Adair County pulls out a tight one beating their rival Taylor County for the second time in 2 weeks. This was a back and forth game that was within 5 points of each other both ways the whole game. Tylin George and Dawson Gilbert led Adair with 19 and 18 points. Adair County will now head to the 2A state tournament in Owensboro where they will face Bell County next weekend.

Breeze said post game that “it was a complete program malfunction” He was referencing uniforms. Apparently George forgot his uniform and the staff forgot to pack the extra blood uniforms so he was left without one to wear and Breeze stated post game and I’m paraphrasing, that he wasn’t allowing them take a uniform from a player on the bench that doesn’t play many or any minutes that brought their uniform to give to a player who forgot theirs so all parties would take responsibility and live with the results. Fortunately they won and advanced.
