Don't_Hate_the_Playa
The last thing this guy wants is for his son to waste his time playing HS basketball, anyway. And for that matter, college basketball (somewhere Steve Alford is secretly praying "please let him lose his amateur status, please let him lose his amateur status"). He could go overseas or - ironically - end up with a show company-sponsored team and do just fine.
SnottieDrippen
Doesn't matter. The NCAA will not be the only show in town much longer. LaVar authored the blueprint for skirting the system.
TheDeuce
Why would having his own shoe cause him to lose his amateur status?
Wireman
Why would having his own shoe cause him to lose his amateur status? You can't market amateur athletes. Can't even mention their names on camp brochures.
MJAlltheWay24
I don't think Lavar Ball wants this son anywhere near collegiate basketball. Doesn't want his mediocrity to hurt the brand. Losing eligibility is probably all a part of the master plan.

The Professor
Is he good enough to play beyond amateur status? I read somewhere that the oldest of the sons was the only one with pro potential.
Irish Cat
Are they selling the shoe? $395.00. They are a bargain compared to Lonzo's. I'm thinking about getting 3 pairs.
MentschTrachtGottLacht
You can't market amateur athletes. Can't even mention their names on camp brochures. You can, however, you can't have a Corporate Sponsor logo on the same brochure -- creates an "implied endorsement".

Bipsic
Ringer article about the situation I don't think share Sherman's ultimate conclusion of begrudgingly siding with the Ball's but this article makes a bunch of good points.
