Who is the best QB in Northern Kentucky football history?

By Colonels_Wear_Blue - Bob DeMoss - Dayton '45 - Purdue Boilermakers Bob DeMoss was, to the best of my knowledge, the first D1 quarterback to come out of Northern Kentucky. He was born and raised in Dayton, and played for the Greendevils during their ’41, ’42, ’43, and ’44 football seasons as starting quarterback, kicker and part-time halfback. His senior year, DeMoss led NKY in touchdown completions and was given honorable mention for the Courier-Journal’s All State Team in an era when football around the Commonwealth of Kentucky was anything but organized on a statewide level. DeMoss was given a... Read More →

BluegrassPreps Football Rankings (10/16)

By Ram - Class 1A Paintsville has no problem taking on the best the East has to offer regardless of District. The Tigers put Hazard on a list that also included Williamsburg and Pikeville as teams Paintsville have defeated. Up next is the final piece to the puzzle versus Raceland in a game that will determine the District Champion. Beechwood made yet another statement of dominance by crushing Ludlow. Paris and Frankfort also turned heads with key wins in District games. Frankfort’s work is not quite done as they need to take down Kentucky Country Day this week to keep their momentum going. 1.... Western Kentucky Power Ranking - 10/15/17

By Purple88 - BluegrassPreps 2017 Western Kentucky Power Rankings - Week 8 Edition Concerning the top story line for this week, we have 2 again this week. 1. Calloway County does not have 1 win on the season and I know it's been a difficult season for Coach Garrison over in Murray. As you may know, Calloway traveled to Hopkinsville to play Hoptown this week. In a show of team unity, Coach Clayton asked E.J. Austin's (the young man just recently tragically killed) mother to walk to mid-field as an Honorary Team Captain this week. Each Calloway County captain brought a single rose with them to... 3A Notebook: Boyle Clears Lexington Catholic Hurdle

By gchs_uk9 - Boyle Does What's Necessary to Win a Big Game In eight of the last nine meetings against district rival Lexington Catholic, Boyle County had come out on the losing end. There were six losses in Lexington, two losses at Boyle, three losses in the playoffs, each one stinging in its own way. However, with the winner assured an opportunity to play for a district championship next week, third-ranked Boyle County weathered the disappointment of two touchdowns being called back due to penalties in the first half by dominating the Knights in the second half en route to a 48-17 victory, eclipsing... Class 2A Notebook 10/14- The Main Event

By ATLCat - As we enter the essentially the final week of District play, it is appropriate to view the 2017 Class 2A District slate as a comparison to the card for a Pay Per View Boxing/UFC event. " The Lead In " District 1: Mayfield 56 Murray 21, September 29th What This Bout Taught Us: This was the game that got people to tune in early although everyone knew a knockout was coming. Mayfield was a cut above in their District all season and made short work of a Murray team that simply did not have the footwork, stamina, or punching power to go toe-to-toe. Mayfield's Best Attribute: Mayfield can do... Read More →

2A Game of the Week: #1 Danville at #3 Lexington Christian Academy

By DevilMayCare - Every year, when the schedules are released, there are certain games that immediately stand out as must-see. This year, we had Trinity vs. St. X, Mayfield vs. Corbin, Belfry vs. Johnson Central, and DeSales vs. CAL, just to name a few. This week's 2A Game of the Week certainly falls into the category of a must-see game. Anytime you get highly ranked, unbeaten, district rivals locking horns this late in the season, it's big deal. This will be the fourth year in a row that this match-up will serve as the de facto district championship game, with the Admirals winning in 2014 and 2015, and... Read More →

1A Game of the Week: 1A #4 Paintsville vs. 1A #5 Raceland

By Bac2369 - The Kentucky High School Football season is winding down and district play is almost over. The seedings should almost be set in stone after this week. The final week of district play is here and so is the Class 1A Game of the Week between The Paintsville Tigers and the Raceland Rams. If 2016 is an indication on how this game may play out then we will be on the edge of our seats all game long, until the final horn sounds. Raceland finished the 2016 season at 10-3 with 2 of those 3 losses coming at the hands of Paintsville. So a win in 2017 for Raceland would be bitter sweet and lock up the... Read More →

Mr. Football Candidates

By DevilMayCare - At this point in the season, the Mr. Football picture is beginning to clear up some. A couple of favorites have emerged from the pack, with several others still within striking distance of the award. The Front-runners : A.J. Class 4A Notebook (10/10): District Reset

By DragonFire - As we head into the last couple of weeks of district play, it is a good time to reset our district races, and begin projecting where we’ll end up at the start of November. District 1 Logan County pulled off what most would consider an upset when they took down Hopkinsville 13-12 on the final play of the game in Russellville on Thursday night. It extended Logan County’s winning streak to eight straight games, still almost unfathomable after their 42 game losing streak that ended last season. That set up a district title game against Madisonville-North Hopkins. If Madisonville wins at... Read More →
