🤠 Hat tip to @Quagmire for reminding me and the WOPR that Fleming County is a proud member of the 16th Region. Their #74 statewide rating places them 3rd there between Ashland and Rowan County.

Harrison County is in fact the No. 5 team in the 10th Region, behind now #4 Scott and just ahead of #6 Augusta.

⚔️ The Knights of Lexington Catholic remain the Commonwealth's top rated team according to Professor Massey's algorithm.

🗒️ There was little movement among the Top 10, with only 5. Cov Cath and 6. Male swapping places. Evangel Christian moves up one slot to No. 10. 

⬆️ The next 15 however are a different story, with a half dozen teams making their Top 25 debuts. Nos. 11 Harlan Co. (+9) and 16. Newport (+8) make the biggest moves among teams already within the 25. Newcomers include 17. Boyd Co. (+9), 19. Madison Southern (+26), 21. Ashland (+10), 22. Campbell Co. (+7), 23. Cooper (+7), 24. Lyon Co. (+3).

✓ As noted above in "🧐2️⃣5️⃣", games this week per Massey were through Sunday 12/17. That's not the case this week, and typically their data set runs through Saturday games, e.g. Sunday's four games at Griffin Elite were not tallied. 

➕ A note on won-loss records ~ Massey Ratings' nationwide coverage for basketball isn't as broad as it is for football. Though they include home school and prep school teams in the states they do include, one will note discrepancies in a team's record if they've played teams outside Massey's covered states.

👍 Kentucky is in good shape in accounting for games with border state teams - all of them. We'll lose some accuracy with out of state holiday tournaments in Florida, etc. Last season Massey included ~95% of games played by schools from the Bluegrass.

⚔️ 🤔 Massey, like just about every poll out there, believes the #1 team in the state resides in the 11th Region. Unlike the consensus choice of Great Crossing (10-0) as the "King of the Commonwealth," Massey contends that Lexington Catholic (9-0) should remain at the top of the Ratings.

Both teams are undefeated, and Massey acknowledges the Warhawks' SoS is significantly higher in its coverage zone. If we look at Knight's three wins in Florida last week at the Kreul Classic though, a win over FL #7 St. Thomas Aquinas stands out, so ... 🤷 I definitely have 1/27 circled on my calendar, when they'll meet at Franklin Co.'s "Gary Moore Classic."

GRC in third place is also undefeated. Evangel Christian continues to climb the ladder towards the top along with Manual. St. Xavier's high powered offense has the Tigers rounding out the top half dozen.  

⬆️ There are three new Regional leaders: 7th Region - Manual, 14th Region - Hazard, and 16th Region - Ashland. 

🥇🥈 The 11th Region (6) and 7th Region (5) account for the most teams in the Top 25. Postseason tournaments in Lexington and Louisville are going to be brutal, as usual.

🧐 Some heavy hitters - 1. Lex Cath, 2. Great Crossing, and 3. George Rogers Clark took their first losses of the season. Will there be a new #1 this week? Who moves up? Down? 

👀 The new Ratings should be released tomorrow.

74 of the 79 games played last week will factor into the upcoming Ratings. The Florida opponents St. X and Cov Cath played, as well as Harlan County's game vs. South Shore (NY) are outside Massey's coverage area. The Professor's Ratings, while not as flashy as MaxPreps on the top tier national front are still the most accurate, top to bottom, for Kentucky imo.
