Congrats Trinity, hope it was a great morning at films for the players and coaches. I think St. X is definately not making the playoffs this year, but you never know with harbin points! Anyways, congrats to Trinity on a big win. May this be a big highlight on the road for another state title.

I forgot the coaches' name (I believe Coach Mike Jackson from Pikeville) the man had to come on here and defend accusations against. We all know players and parents read this stuff and sometimes we just have to stand up for ourselves as coaches otherwise that is a whole lot of trust that is lost with the most important factor of any high school football program, the players! kydlineguy

Roger Bacon has struggled for a while and play in the smaller yet very competitive GCL Central and also play the North Teams as well (Chaminade-Juliene, Alter, Carroll). I am really not trying to steer this thread towards coaching but rather programs. Rodenburg did a god job for what he had at Roger Bacon and even though he was only there one year, Huxley (the New Head Coach) will continue to improve things at Roger Bacon. No coach was going to walk into Roger Bacon and win a ton of games. The enrollment and the attraction of athletes is not it has been in years past. As for the game.........Cardinal Mooney has a very rich tradition. As mentioned before, they have cranked out some absolutely awesome talent year after year. Yes Cov Cath is also a good program, but not nearly on the same level as Cardinal Mooney. I just wanted to tell Coach Brossart that this is a tough loss for any coach to take because there are not a whole lot of chances to play in an event like this three to four hours away and play a team who, in all respect, would beat just about anybody around here their same size. So hang in there Coaches, hang in CCH players, your still have nine more chances to get better. Good Luck

I have to go with Newport. I belive Jim Hyder made some adjustments during the off season that will help the Cats. This one is for all the Newport fans, There will be times that things will get tough, JUST KEEP SUPPORTING BECAUSE YOU HAVE GREAT COACHES. What is wrong with only practicing two hours a day. Maybe Coach Reinhart (sp) feels that what they need to be successful! With a program a young as Brossart's, maybe only having one practice will attract more kids.

This entire situation is sad for all involved. I went through this myself when I was a freshman at Newport in 1994. The Head Coach left for what he felt was an opportunity that he could not pass up the last week of July. Bob Miller came out of retirement to try to hold the program together for one year. Newport ended up 0-10 and the downward spiral continued. The following year Roy Lucas Sr. came and if you remember correctly you will remember how things got a whole lot better for Newport in a hurry. The situation at Bishop Brossart is very sad and all three sides (Coaches, Administration, and Players) are all at an extreme disadvantage at this time. The Coaches: I want to say that Rodney Ollier and his entire family are a class act and Bishop Brossart was very fortunate to have them. You will not find another coaching staff that always put the players well being first. These Coaches now hope to be picked up by a coaching staff although chances are high that they will be doing it for free considering that most staffs are in place, contracts are signed, and all the normal teams across not only the state but the entire country are practicing right now. This is an absolute slap in the face for Coach Ollier. Rodney, hang in there, better days will come. The Administration: Now that the Administration has shown just how naive they are about running a football program, they will now struggle to find a quality replacement. Bishop Brossart will not get a quality replacement unless a godsend miracle happens. Most coaches are teachers, such as me, and we are locked into contracts for the coming school year and already practicing. The administration better have a good answer, you better have a teaching position open that pays well or hope that a Para Professional (who in my opinion are some of the best coaches out there) can get there job schedules fixed so that they can run a varsity football team. If you are going to fire a football coach, at least do it in November-December-January so that the new coach can start off winter conditioning and get to know the kids. It takes a long time for kids to gain the trust of a strange man who is going to work their tails and at the same time make them believe that they can win. The Players: The biggest disadvantaged of the whole situation, the players. They are the ones who this is supposed to be about. The players are as of right now doubting that they are good enough to be coached by anyone. I want to tell the players this directly who read this website: Many times in life, you will come across a hurdle that you have no choice but to jump. This is one of those hurdles and a good one for you to jump. Many times there will be a hurdle in the way and you are really not sure if you can jump it. My advice to you is to Control the Controllable Factors. Remember, you cannot control who is hired, fired, or anything else that involves the administration or coaches. These are factors known as the non-controllable factors. The controllable factors that apply to you are giving 100% effort in the weight room and also in running/conditioning. On defense, playing your gap and tackling, on Offense, blocking and taking care of the football, perfection in the kicking game. These are the things that are controlled by you. Coaches cannot block or tackle anyone for you, we had our turn and now it is yours. Regardless of who they hire, control those controllable factors and you will jump this hurdle. I think it would be really hard to really say anything bad about Randy Borchers. He is a high class individual who has done nothing short of a great job as a football coach. I know everybody is entitled to their own opinion of what they think of someone but I will stae mine. Randy Borchers was a terrific hire and given the chacne to coach 80 or more kids presents a better chance to win rather than getting 40 or less kids. Let Coach Borchers get his staff together and we will see what will happen. I might be wrong, I am not a fortune teller, and I do not know how the next season will go for Cooper's inaugural season, but I beleive that Randy Borchers was a good hire. This is just my opinion.

Now Leman is an awesome hire. I know him personally and I have met some of his former players from scott, they all loved him as a coach and as a person.

Dave Brossart will always put a good staff together. I don't care who it is, but in order to coach under Dave, you must be a top notch coach. I cannot imagine Dave settling for second best.

I have no idea who Travis Angel is but I do know Heidelberg's head coach, Mike Hallet. He was our offensive coordinator at Thomas More when I played. Coach Hallet would eventually go on to become the head coach and have success at that position. Heidelberg is now on the right track with Coach Hallet at the helm. Travis Angel, congrats on selecting a terrfic school with an awesome head coach. This is also my personal time to say hello to Rick Honaker, a former teammate of mine at Thomas More who is now coaching at Heidelberg with Coach Hallet, who is an excellent football coach and an even better person. Congrats Travis, now go help the 'Berg win an OAC Title!
