Holy Cross had a great 1st drive and then it seemed like they just quit. They did get a few breaks from the Beechwood D when they would run a sweep and have nothing, then be able to reverse the field for positive yardage. Slow start by Beechwood but they came out the 2nd half looking strong. Tiepel is a great back and has lead the tigers the last 2 weeks. He is quick and very strong. Although Elliott can run well, i think bwood needs to call more plays that keep him in the pocket. Whenever Elliott is hurried the pressure comes from the outside, so keep him in the pocket, have him set his feet and make a throw.

Will Romes see any varsity time this year or will he be at the jv level? Is he a sophomore or junior? Alex Hall very well could be the scoring leader in the 9th region next year. Rick Shumate is a great coach and can turn this program into a contender in the 35th in years to come.

Two top 10 class A schools (first time you can say that about this game in a long time). Bellevue comes in ranked #6 in the 1A state AP poll and Dayton ranked #9. But its a rivalry so throw out the records, stats, win/loss record, everything... This should be a very tight game, i see it coming down to the last possesion. Missed PAT by Dayton at the end lol. Beechwood should have no trouble playing with the tough prestonsburg crowd. After playing at Covington Catholic, you are prepared to play anywhere in the state. Beechwood will be without there starting quarterback (Cody Elliott) and running back (Tommy Bankamper). With that said, I think it will be a close game but Beechwood ends up winning 23-13.

I will go conservative and say Beechwood only wins by 38 points, 45-7.

My prediction is that if they take the temperature on the field, this game will not be played Friday night. Temperatures will be around 100 for the high and should only cool off to around 92-95 by 7 p.m. With the turf they have, the temperature on the field will easily be 110+ even at 7pm. Whenever the game is played I take Beechwood 27-17.

Ryle doesnt have the quality of pitching to win it all. They do have alot of pitchers but they cant compete with the pitching of dunbar or other teams in the state. I'll be routing for the Raiders to bring home the state title but i just dont see it happening. Good luck Radiers, keep the great season going.

To keep it simple i would say the key to winning is scoring more runs than the opposing team which means you win the game.

Feel free to call in the fire department to water down the field. After a couple days of sun and warm temperatures that field is just as good as the parking lot. I hope the game isnt decided due to that horrible field, would love to see a game like this played at Florence Freedom's field.

Great game by both teams, Devine was dominant on the mound and IJames closed it out. Beechwood never could get the sticks going. Tough loss for Beechwood's pitcher (Hadden) when you give up just 1 earned run. The aces were the better team and they came out on top at the end. Congrats to all teams for making it such a great tournament.

Sophmore AJ Smith started and went two innings, eighth grader Bertke went two innings and sophmore Snider went one inning.

Campbellsville wins 2 to 0. Beechwood wins 10 to 0 in 5 innings.

With how hot Beechwood is right now i wouldn't consider this a big upset. They are district rivals and anything can happen. Watch out if Beechwood wins the All A, they will have A LOT of momentum coming into this game.

Someone from Beechwood told me that Williams may be able to play this weekend with the injury. I dont see how that is possible if he broke his finger, but maybe it is better than people thought? We will have to wait and see, but great news that an 8th grader is performing like that.

The 9th is very solid this year and probably the most equally talented top to bottom that i have seen in a long time. I know there are still some teams that struggle but there are about 8-10 teams that can beat eachother on any given day. Should make for a very exciting tournament.
