All Play No Work Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 Beechwood fresh from a drubbing by a larger school jumps right into it with a game against 5A Dixie. Can Beechwood start out the season on a winning note by putting some points on the board or will Dixie shut them down? Did Dixie show too much of the no-huddle offense in their Scrimmage Super Bowl win over NCC or will they still move the ball against Beechwood? Predictions?
cshs81 Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 Game of the Week in NKY. Tough call but I'll go with the Tigers in a nip and tuck affair.
letabrotherspeak Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 I like Dixie in this one. Dixie coming off a nice outing versus NCC and Bwood a not so good outing.

I thought Dixie ran a pretty vinilla " O " in the scrimmage . I know 4 or 5 players where out , they'll be back in next week ! Over all I think we did OK , but we still need some work in area's ! From last year to this year , light years ! They'll be ready to play next week !!!:fire:
That's Pat Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 You know, I think the contest will be some great acton, alot of these youngmen played youth football with each other or against. But, IMO Beechwood should win 42-20. The Tigers are giant upfront off line about an avg. of 275 lb's.
Sandman32 Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 You know' date=' I think the contest will be some great acton, alot of these youngmen played youth football with each other or against. I wouldn't ever call their line big, but what the are is fast, quick, and technique oriented. Those three things beat size to death. Size comes without those three things most of the time. Not saying that is the case with Beechwood, but just that it happens more often than not IMO. Second, Dixie has looked pretty good to this point, the Beechies? not as good. Beechwood may have a big line for a 1A school but Dixie is 5A, which translates to not so big in this game. Third and most important, Beechwood humiliated the Colonels last year. As you said, most of this kids grew up playing with or against each other. The Dixie kids will have that and last years score on their minds when they meet Friday night. I look for the Colonels to dominate the Beechies on Friday the same way they did NCC this past Friday. Dixie 45 Beechwood 17
That's Pat Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 That's great RH, I liked to see them win. I know alot of the players.
Sandman32 Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 How many linemen will go both ways for Dixie? That all depends on what Tom and Dave are thinking. They have the lineman to go one way, will they? Your guess is as good as mine. I thought we had enough lineman to effectively rotate on D without noticing. We are in a 4-3 base so really that only leaves two DT's that could possibly be playing both ways. Our DT's are not interior lineman on O. At least I don't think they are. Like I said, I'm not sure what the final lineup is just yet. I know that if somebody doesn't get the job done there are quite a few players who could and did step in with no problem last Friday.

Red Heat Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 How many linemen will go both ways for Dixie? Not many at all , but alot switch in and out . The starting OL is : Freeman 6'3" 285 SR , Sanders 6' 210 SR, Highouse 6'6" 275 SR', Koski 6'3" 250 SR, Tolsen 6'4" 315 JR . The DL I'm not sure there's so many going in and out . It looks like they have a speed package and the BEEF package !:thumb: I know Walls ( 6'4" 255 SR ) is back this week !:ylsuper: With Tasayco ( 6'3" 330 SR ) Higgins , Gronefeld , Tolsen ( 5'11" 290 SO (aka) Biggie ) and one or two others , they'll be fine ! :thumb:

Main difference is BHS lineman have to play both sides of the ball.
