Nutini started and finished for CovCath but he had a rough first inning. Brandon got the first batter out, but then gave up a HR, then a double and a single and Bishop Brossart was off to a 2-0 lead. On the HR I thought the Center Fielder Reis had it but......he just couldn't climb the wall high enough.

 

Bishop Brossart threw their ace against CovCath today, but the young man couldn't find the plate and walked a few Colonels and CovCath put 4 on the scoreboard and never looked back.

 

Nutini held BB scoreless through the second, third and fourth innings while CovCath put up numbers on the scoreboard in each inning. The big blow in the game was a HR from Maile. Maile who had walked twice by this point in the game with a runner on hit a pitch over 360/365, but it wasn't the distance or the HR that had people buzzing, it was how fast the ball cleared the fence and how high over the fence it went. My guess and it is only a guess, the ball had to be hit better than 400 feet plus. It indeed was a shot.

 

BB scored two in the top of the fifth, then one in the top of the sixth, but CovCath scored in both innings also, and with the basses loaded in the bottom of the sixth Maile who was waked an inning or two earlier, hit a double to end the game.

 

CovCath leading hitters were Maile 2-2 5 rbi's 3 walks HR, Double, Isler 2 hits three rbi's. Popham, laid down a beautiful squeeze bunt, and as per usual played some great "D". CovCath entire team seemed to hit well today. Good win by the CovCath team....

 

Next up Beechwood @ Beechwood..... Bleser vs Elliott I am sure.

Bring a weed whacker, bee spray and a face mask for the dust of the dirt infield.

Feel free to call in the fire department to water down the field. After a couple days of sun and warm temperatures that field is just as good as the parking lot. I hope the game isnt decided due to that horrible field, would love to see a game like this played at Florence Freedom's field.

Wow--This field sounds absolutely charming!! Think I'll go take in the Mustangs vs. Lexington Lafayette @ NKU!!

I know the field at Erlanger Lions Park is open tomorrow night. That would be an upgrade to Beechwoods. If that is not good enough, Franzen Field is probably open. We could drink a couple brews while watching the game there. Maybe even catch a couple fish if the game gets boring.

No concession stand, no cushy seats, no restroom, no Rosey Red/Mr. Redleg race, just 4 bases, a backstop and a beautiful sunny day...what more do you need....play ball
