As far as I know, the game is still scheduled at Morehead St.

 

The thing that worries me most is how P-burg defends the inside running game. The coaching staff has played a lot of 3 and 4 man fronts this season. I just don't know if there's enough men in the hole to stop a skilled power offense. Though the defense only surrendered 12 points to Breathitt Co., doubling up the outside receivers definately hurt the inside defense vs. the draws, shovel passes, etc. the Bobcats run.

 

On offense, completing a few passes will be a key to open some running room. Also, there's not going to be time for more than one playfake. The Beechwood defense WILL be quick enough to reach the backfield on S-L-O-W developing plays. The offensive line and blocking backs can NOT allow defensive penetration on pitches and sweeps (seeing a RB forced back a step or two when he should be running parallel to the LOS is a sure sign of a play that's going NOWHERE).

 

With all that said, this Prestonsburg team is a pretty good fundamental team. Team speed is good, especially on the defensive side.

 

Are the Blackcats in "over their heads" ? .... I certainly hope not, but the coaching staff MUST discover how its team stacks up to these squads. If Prestonsburg is going to challenge for a 2A Title, this will be a good read on how the Blackcats might look and what needs work vs. the top teams in the class. It will be a good experience for this young team, in any case.
