Prestonsburg 42 Lawrence County 12
That's always the first thing people want to say, but the bottom line is if you have better players your team wins. A coach can make a difference in preparation, stamina, gameplan, etc., but he doesn't fumble, throw INTs, jump offsides, drop passes, or prepare for a game all week long with a goal of losing. Sometimes the talent just isn't there. The good thing is these things go in cycles and good times at LC are in the mist. Keep your heads up!

Belfry 53 East Ridge 6
Will is a really good kid, too, and I can't say enough about how bad I feel for kids who sustain injuries like this during their senior years. Best of luck in the healing process, and keep your head up young man.

Belfry 53 East Ridge 6
He's been playing that DE about as well as it can be played within our system. Very good discipline, rushing the QB at the appropriate angles, and solid tackling.

Did Ivan Lee not suit up against East Ridge?

Belfry vs. Shelby Valley moved to Sat. 7:30
^Not to my knowledge. They did beat Prestonsburg once, I think.

Lawrence County vs Belfry Predictions
I think the Pirates have 5 guys than can come in and there be little to no drop off, but the backfield with Howard, Jones, and Childers is up there among the best to ever play in EKY. I can't say these guys are in that league yet.

Who was the greatest running back to ever play high school football in Kentucky?
Yes, he was #3, and the guy in my avatar. That year Belfry rolled up 526 yards on the ground. Howard had 279 & 3 TDs, Jones 176 & 1 TD, and Gary Childers (FB) had 76 yards. Actually, that's 531 yards between those three. I don't remember anyone having a negative run either.

Pikeville 28 Louisville Holy Cross 18
And so do all the other seniors who were freshmen on the '04 Championship Team.

Prestonsburg 68 Betsy Layne 14
^OK...Prestonsburg wouldn't play us. Any more questions?

No, if they could have, they would have.

Elizabethtown 44 Lloyd Memorial 37
^ya think? Any details???

Hazard 43 Letcher Co. Central 22
Personally, I feel Hazard is far from a Top 10 Mountain team. And I'd like to think LCC is better than what the score shows.

Pulaski County 62 Somerset 49
Am I harsh in saying that is laughable? Tackling ought to be on the agenda during next week's practice schedule.

Belfry 21 Corbin 0
Offense sells tickets, defense wins championships. Small and short recap for me, and I'll call it a night. 1st play - Everyone in the house (crowd size unknown to me) expects FB and workhorse Dustin May to get the ball. Senior HB Phillip Hickman takes the handoff and goes for what should have been a TD, had not been for a Corbin safety. 2nd play - Belly to the opposite side, even the Belfry faithful anticipated the FB Dive or whatever play puts the ball in May's hands, yet unsuspecting HB Ivan Lee gets the handoff and rushes for the Pirates 1st score of the night. Momentum is on the Pirates side, and the rest is in the books. The first drive set the tone for the game, inspired 4 quarters of hard-nosed football, brought a Pike County Bowl crowd to its feet; and for the first time in a somber day brought a smile to the faces of life-long Pirate fans.

Any update on Mr. Phillips? I'm sorry to not have a lot to say about the game, my heart is elsewhere.

Lexington Herald-Leader High School Football Preview
I think this is the highest Mike Fields has had Belfry ranked during the pre-season ever, well, that I can remember. I think a lot of it has to do with the number of players they have returning, but this team has a long ways to go if they want to get back to Louisville.

Johnson Central/Leslie Co. Scrimmage
Are you sure your recollection is correct? I do agree with the statement that you can't really hang your hat on a preseason game.
-
Belfry/Boyd Co Scrimmage
Should we look for Andrew Elkins to play any CB this year? I know Coach doesn't like to play his QB on D, but Andrew was about as solid in the secondary as we had last year. Any info is appreciated.
