"The Voice of the Belfry Pirates" Steve Phillips - Passes Away.

Featured Replies

I have recieved word that Mr. Phillips "The Voice of the Pirates" passed away at around 10am this morning. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. There will be many heavy hearts at the Pike County Bowl tonight, Belfry Football, and the entire community has lost great man.

Sadly, we just got the word that Mr Phillips lost his battle and has gone on to be with the Lord.

I cannot describe how saddened the entire Belfry Pirate family will be tonight knowing that Mr Phillips will not return to the Belfry family, and will no longer take his rightful place at the mic. He was the voice of the Pirates, and a friend to all. He was a good example for everyone that knew him.

You will be missed, Steve.

Rest in peace sir.

What a sad day....for Belfry, eastern KY football and anyone who ever crossed paths with Steve.

He was a great man and he loved his Pirates.

God Bless the Phillips family.

Condolences to the Phillips family and all that lost an exceptional friend.

I hate to hear the sad news of Mr. Phillips passing. It will be a sad night tonight at The Cam. God Bless his family, friends, and everyone that he touched. He will be missed.

God Bless his wife, family and the community...

Prayers from the Panther family to the Pirate family. Watching a game at CAM wont ever be the same.

Condolences from Colonel country!

Prayers go out to his family and friends.

May you find peace now. From the Vikings.

From my understanding a lot of the guys are taking this really hard, he was more than a fan, more than an announcer, more than a teacher, the man was a friend.

When I was in highchool I thought the world of the man, one of my favorite people there, and my heart breaks for Brenda and their family.

Good thing is the man served and trusted in the Lord, and he is in a better place than we could ever imagine.

I totally agree, Steve was a great man, and an example to all. I am sure the players will be playing with a lot of emotion tonight, and thier hearts will be heavy. There will be other anouncers at Belfry High School but there will never be another Steve Phillips.

Along with the entire community, my heart is broken. Mr.Phillips was a great person. He loved the Pirates and the Pirates loved him. It just won't be the same tonight without hearing that voice and his catch phrases that we all know so well. My prayers go out to Brenda and the family.
