Just seeing what everyone thinks. I don't know much about Leslie Co., but if I know Matney he's looking for a tune up and confidence builder for his kids before the season starts.

Leslie didn't look sharp in their first scrimmage. Their defense is young. Poor tackling affected the overall outcome of the scrimmage. The offense looked pretty good and will only get better. Leslie will hit you. If they don't do anything else, they will hit you.

I have to agree. Matney and Johnson Central should be able to run at will. I think that seeing Leslie's offense might throw them off a little at first, but they will get the hang of it and shut it down. Just don't see it being a barnburner at all.

Should be a good night of football. First game will be at 5:30 with Flat Gap elementary taking on Central Elementary. Followed by the high school scrimage.

Look for more of a game situation in this scrimage.

Can't really tell to much about a team in a scrimmage... The regular season is what matters... We used to scrimmage Belfry and would outscore them in the preseason, but thats the years they were state champs.... So until the regular season you can't get a guage of a team.

Tonight was a great night at Johnson Central. The field looks awesome! The visitors side bleachers will be up by next week. There is still some minor touch-ups here and there, but there was no complaints. The only issue that I heard some people talking about was how the field was moved up and the stadium lights got moved up, the home side bleachers were a little dark.

 

Now to the game, the format was a game style with no contact on kick-offs, punts and field goals. The ball was spotted on the 35 yard line on every series. There was 2 halfs, both halfs lasting 30 minutes.

Johnson Central only played their varsity offense and defense for about 10 minutes in the 1st half and about 5 minutes in the 2nd half. And what I saw tonight, I'd give the varsity a B+. JC's 2nd string and 3rd string played great against Leslie Co.'s varsity for pretty much the 2nd half.

Leslie Co. has some good looking players as well. They should have a good season.

I know its hard to tell from a scrimmage and only seeing the varisty for about 15 minutes total, but... Johnson Central looks like they have alot more team speed on defense this year. I thought I saw about 11 jerseys around the Leslie Co. ball carrier on several times tonight.

Glad that Johnson Central has such wonderful new facilities. Hopefully you'll get plenty of opportunities to use it, even later in the season!

1 last thing and I'm gonna hit the hay.

 

There was more people there tonight than there was for the apple bowl in 2003 (that was the year JC went 1-9.)

I was unable to make it in for the scrimmage but I was told that JC was leading something like 46-14 at halftime, is that right. He also said that JC looked very impressive while the starters where in.

46-14 is correct....and the final score was something like 60-14 I believe. I was very impressed tonight by JC's passing game and by Nathan Dillion's speed. He was very fast and has gained a tremendous amount of speed since last season.
