  1. I would think it is the other way around. With the power running game, you need big lugs who can make holes in the D-line. Speed isn't as much of a factor as strength and size because they don't have to run around as much, just be somewhat quick off the ball. However, the spread opens pass rush lanes, and getting the quarterback out on the edge means your line must move and slide the protection that way, looking for blitzes (not just up your gap), and keeping your feet constantly moving, ready to react. A power game's line have to keep their feet moving too, but it is straight forward after contact is made with the D. Look a the linemen on successful power running teams, and those on successful spread O teams, and I think you'll see the difference.
  2. So that begs the question: Who wants to win to go get their head pummeled in a few weeks? :dancingpa :fight: making playoffs playing Belfry
  3. I couldn't imagine the O-line going backwards under Coach Roark. He is a great coach. Give him a few years with this bunch, and they will be one of the top rushing teams in the state! Anytime there is a turnover of coaching like NL had over the summer, (they have 4 new coaches among a staff of 7) there is going to be some adjustment time. Staffs have to gel, and players have to become accustomed to their techniques and coaching styles. I still think is a very dangerous team. Good luck to the Jags the rest of the way.
  4. Congrats to Coach Davis and the Braves. They seem to be able to pull out these close games, whereas in the past, they would've folded. Games like these are what builds programs into winners.
  5. I expected this one to be closer.
  6. Eminence has too many weapons for Bracken E- 32 BC- 18
  7. Then I have been misinformed. I had heard that he was winless one year and only about 2-8 the other. Apparently, my sarcasm has backfired. :irked:  However, I still think that Grant Co. is a program on the rise. Sometimes the turning point takes time to reach, but it does get reached. I don't think they are that far from it.
  8. Soccer Hooligans:argue: :fight: Just another reason to love the real "Football":ylsuper:
  9. You have to look at the history of the program. They have never been consistent, or that successful. This is his third year at the helm. Numbers are higher, they are 2-1, and played a strong team very well in Anderson last week, a team I feel would have beaten some of the other, older Grant teams by about 40; not because of talent, but because of the belief (or lack thereof) in themselves. I would say Davis is doing alright for himself. Boy, though, you wanna talk about failures, how 'bout that Chuck Smith guy and his first two years at Boyle Co. :fire:
  10. Not necessarily aiming that at Rock. Just seems that there have been several conspiracy theories that pop up when powerhouse teams win close games. Not only on Log Mtn, but other places as well. It just seems to be a better thing to say "the refs took that game," or "the clock man gave them more/gave us less time," or something of the sort than to man up and say "our team was beaten by a better team tonight."
  11. That's cold, especially coming from a guy with "average" in his name. I go with Knox, but it wouldn't be an Appy State if MC pulls one out. They are much improved over the whipping boy days of yesteryear KC (minus the sunshine band) 35 MC 24
  12. As for the prediction, I have seen both play this year, and I don't think it will be close. Bell has a pretty special team this year, and Rock is down from recent years. I don't think it will get ugly, but I think Bell's JV may break a 4th quarter sweat Bell-35 Rock-14
  13. Yeah, teams get beat and then find an excuse as to why:sssh:
  14. Bourbon's win streak is short lived, but congrats still to Colonels for getting off the schnide MC 52 BC 6
  15. North Laurel 14 Corbin 6 Good job Coach Roark and good win for the young Jags
  16. Coach McNamee seems to have things moving in the right direction there on 119. Central by 21
  17. Does my nose have any boogers? or am I clean. (Sorry guys, all the good ones have already been taken) Or: Man, whoever thought up the logistics for the new scoreboard sucks! (see above excuse)
  18. Couch (too bad it didn't translate into the same kind of success in the pros (yet, go get'em Tim)
  19. Refreshing to have someone who understands that if you want your team to succeed, you don't do it by complaining about it, and putting doubts in young player's minds about their coaches', their team's, or their own abilities. Support them, or leave them alone. Negativity will never bring a team success.:ylsuper:
