  1. What's the name of the kid from HopTown who palyed at 'Bama and plays for the Bills now? George Stripling maybe???
  2. Frank Minnifield Rick Kestner Mark Higgs???
  3. By the way...some folks may think 15th Region basketball is pretty horrible right now. Well, I agree, but at many times over the years it has produced teams that would be very competitive with ANY team in the nation, just not lately.
  4. I agree...nothing easy.:thumb: The way basketball is supposed to be played.
  5. Any stats on Winklepleck?? I know about the INTs and things of that nature, but what about 40 time, squat, clean, vertical, shuttle, bench press, etc.?
  6. I'm saying they are the one of the best I've seen...well, that I remember watching vividly. I'm not quite 30.:sssh:
  7. I kind of figured they were because I hadn't heard much from them.
  8. I don't know exactly what kind of team Woodrow Wilson (Beckley, WV) has this year, but in the past they've had teams that would give HHS fits. Either last year or the year before North College Hill played Woodrow Wilson in the Mountain Coal Classic and barely escaped with a win. Again, I have no idea what type of team they have this year, but from the 90s on they have been the team to beat in WV.
  9. Your opinion is based on youtube highlights??? Yes, I have seen them play this year, but not against any type of quality competition. OK...I'll agree to disagree. I still stand by my word and Paintsville would give them all they want and then some. WIREMAN...That Breckiridge Co. team was outstanding, too.
  10. Congratulations to an outstanding football player! Best of luck in the future.:thumb:
  11. Also, there is no answer for Mayo off the dribble, but Early wouldn't worry me the least, especially against a zone.
  12. Who said they would play man-to-man? A "big" zone defense is probably what Paintsville would play which would force HHS to beat them from the outside, which I don't think they could do. You guys are looking at these match-ups like it's a one-on-one matchup at every position and it isn't. 5-on-5 I like Paintsville '96s chances very well. BTW...Individually, I'd take VanHoose or Craig Ratliff matching up against Patterson anyday of the week.
  13. I know you are partial to the Rose Hill/HHS kids for whatever reason, but I know JD and he is far from related to VanHoose or anyone else from Paintsville. Also, I've saw that particular Paintsville team numerous times and this particular HHS team a couple of times. HHS is superior in athletic ability only, IMO. Paintsville was big, decently athletic, and as fundamentally sound as they come. They beat teams all across the country who matched Huntington's athletic ability and it wouldn't surprise me at all if either team won this hypothetical match-up. BTW...The 1996 Paintsville team is the best KY Title team I've seen since I started attending the tourney in '93, for what that's worth.
  14. I've been waiting for someone with a little more knowledge than me to do a Belfry High School all-time team, but since no one has stepped up I'll get it started. Coach: Phillip Haywood QB: Dwayne Francisco HB: Doug Howard HB: David Jones or Mikey Scott FB: David Pinson or Doug "Devil" Webb SE: Matt Maynard/Derrick Pauley/Brad Hatfield TE: Rick Kestner OL: Tony Baer OL: Jim Dotson OL: Irv Dotson OL: Herbie Dotson OL: Matt Marcum K: Mark Vargo DE: Josh Howard DE: Shane Lowe DL: Chan Marcum DL: Richie Blackburn DL: James Ramey LB: Doug Howard LB: Tim Bob Hatfield CB: David Jones CB: Adam Eastwood SS: Tyler Bostic FS: Matt Varney P: ????? Most of these guys are late 80's to present players and I'm sure I've left some deserving people off the list, but feel free to bring up all the guys I have left off.
  15. Defensive tackle Earl Heyman (Ballard & UofL) played in it a couple years back and dominated.
  16. I've made that drive 1 million times...it can take anywhere from an hour & a half to 2 hours.
  17. ^It's lack of breakaway speed.
  18. Nice team, as always! I thought there were a few surprises, but mostly position placement. All in all, I don't think you can put a more solid team up across the board.
  19. At one time Pennsylvania was the California/Texas/Florida of high school football. But still, I didn't think their all-century team would have been that impressive.
  20. This is getting to be the worst Christmas ever. My heart goes out to all involved. God be with them and prayers will be sent from my home.
  21. Chad Steele, a 6'4" PF, did not play for the Pirates. His presence will make them a lot stronger defensively underneath the bucket when he returns. I think he is serving a suspension for missing out on quite a bit of summer ball.
  22. I agree about Wills. He was the best LB I saw this year. BTW....To answer an earlier question, I saw Clark (Russell) on film a handful of times, but I know film isn't the greatest indicator of game speed.
  23. He's a power-back with good speed, in my opinion, but a helluva football player any way you look at it.
  24. If 48 other states are doing it by a class system, they can't all be wrong. KY has needed to divide the basketball titles for a long time. And if money is the issue, it shouldn't be. More teams equals more money. If there was an 8-team tourney for all 4 classes, that equals to a total of 32 teams. I can count dollar bills, and I'm sure there would be more dollar bills with more teams. Most of the gripe about not going to a class system comes from traditionalists who just don't want to change the way things are/were. But there are some traditions that need to be put in the past. This is one of them.
  25. What D-I school did Hoskins committ to play for?
