  1. ^ Am I wrong or is admission $7 per adult & $5 per kid? There maybe a general admission & reserved seating discrepancy that I am not aware of, but I think those are right.
  2. Probably the most ironic names for any area I can think of.
  3. ^ You might be right. I forgot about that route.:thumb:
  4. #23 Chris Varney had Gross from behind, Jones came in and laid the hit. Two big runs by Howard, a face mask penalty, and two big runs by Jones resulted in the Jones TD. Howard's run came right after Meko kicked a field goal & his ensuing kickoff resulted in a touchback. The 80-yard TD run was the last play of the 3rd quarter. BTW...Howard caused Gross' fumble at the end of the 1st half by knocking a blocker into an unsuspecting Gross.
  5. That's probably the easiest route, but the one Watusi gave is definitely the quickest. I guess you are saying that on a bus, traveling down U.S. 52 isn't that great of a trip. I wouldn't really argue that, but in a family sized vehicle the passage is fine, imo.
  6. Homerism....More Belfry people on the site, plus a lot of area folks who are out of the playoffs are pulling for the Pirates. BTW...I showed my homerism and voted for the Pirates.
  7. Bobby Burton looks like a Phillip Varney clone out there on the football field. And that's a big compliment, in my opinion.
  8. While I think Belfry has a good shot at winning this game, words can't express how much I disagree with the majority of this post. Ultimately, teams are gaged by their wins/losses amongst their peers. That is fair. But comparing '03 to '06 is a bit extreme. Among their peers, thus far, they are equal. Other than that, I see no similarities what so ever.
  9. My head is telling me Mercer Co., but my gut is telling me O'Cath. They've been the spoiler so many times that it's really that hard to vote against them. Good luck to both teams!
  10. Should be a dandy...to the victor goes the spoils.:thumb:
  11. Great game by Johnson Central and congratulations to Coach Matney, the staff & their players. Good luck next week.
  12. Toots, would anybody bring out Captain Obvious if I said that since the Sheldon Clark game this team has gotten a little bit better each day? The defense has flat-out stepped it up. The offense looked as in sync last night & the week before as it has in any year, and the D looked like they're finally ready to man-up and stop the run. Perhaps more importantly, I think we're finally seeing 11 guys on the field that have the desire to win. Lots of times during the year I questioned their focus, but they couldn't have picked a better time to step it up. Congratulations to the players and coaching staff on a game well played.:thumb:
  13. My keys to victory are pretty simple. Belfry - protect the football, chew the clock, stay at home on D, and wrap up when tackling. Middlesboro - create turnovers, force Belfry into 3rd & long situations, and spread the field to take advantage of their speed. Special teams will be big on both teams part...very well could be the deciding factor in the game.
  14. Yes, he was. And he had a whale of a game, too. I came away from that game being far mor eimpressed by him than any other player on Middlesboro's squad.
  15. I would bet that most of the votes are from hometown fans voting for their hometown team. I still agree with the majority of the polls, but I think Johnson Central is going to beat Rockcastle Co.
  16. If there happens to be another Belfry vs Russell game, I am not overlooking Middlesboro at all, parking will be scarce. Russell travels very well. Their fans are to be commended.
  17. I kind of came to that conclusion, but I think oneijoe just wanted to know if he was still playing college ball or not. I'm assuming he isn't...regardless, the kid was a heckuva high school QB and I enjoyed watching him play.
  18. Hearsay let it be known he wasn't wanting to answer that question, didn't he. I still have no clue what the reasoning for that was.
  19. 3 years ago Middlesboro had a ton of fans on here that really like to talk it up. Glad to see that there isn't much of that this year, but it is only Monday.
  20. Sometimes that's like playing with fire, because you never know what's going on the heads of these high school boys. Losing confidence in one's self is more detrimental to team goals than almost anything. But congrats on a good year to the 'Birds.:thumb:
  21. Just a difference in philosophy, I suppose. His works, and that's all that matters. Plus, Dustin ended up getting great yardage up the middle in the second half anyway.
  22. It's not odd, it is illogical. For the past two years Corey has had the highest YPC, a BIG indicator of a good high school back, of any guy on the team. Corey's a player. He is small in stature, isn't necessarily a power runner, but he has the desire to be great. He needs the ball, he has earned the ball, and if the Pirates hope to make it back to the carpet he needs to get the ball more.
  23. This has nothing to do with the kid, but I appreciate the kind words you always give kids in KY High School football you've been associated with. I'm sure this guy is a player, but he is also lucky to have encountered such a positive-type person as a role model. BTW...I hope the kids are doing well.:thumb:
