  1. The bad thing is Belfry is likely to play Shelby Valley two weeks in a row. I wish they would just play for 8 quarters Friday night and call it square.
  2. That scares you more than the fact that we don't tackle very well???:sssh:
  3. By the way, who are those "veer backs" you are refering to?
  4. And every now & then #20 bust a big play up the middle that causes the D to have to focus on him even more. I totally know what you are saying, and the fans griping does become a little nerve-racking for sure. But Dustin is so big & strong at the middle of end of games I find myself just dying for him to get about a 5-yard ahead of steam before he meets any contact.
  5. ^ I agree with what you are saying, Toots, and I understand the importance of him being there. But sometimes I'd like to say Coach get Dustin the ball off-tackle, perhaps say a veer play. But that's just me.
  6. Two victories for Male in one game. The first and most important is the team victory over St. X. The second is Male's Beaumont coming a step closer to claiming Mr. Football.
  7. Those are impressive numbers for anyone, not just for a sophomore. But just out of curiosity, how many carries a game is he averaging & what is his yards per carry average?
  8. That's pretty impressive.....Jackson gets my vote.
  9. I've avoided this thread long enough. Congrats to Sheldon Clark, you deserved the win. But that doesn't mean I have to like it, or that I shouldn't be disgusted at the Pirates' performance.
  10. My favorite is a classic: NO PAIN, NO GAIN!
  11. What's a physical stat?
  12. If they only knew......I don't know how he has gotten away with being the type of guy he is for this long. But maybe this kind of notoriety will bring it all out.
  13. Those that question the play-calling, and there are fewer now than there have been in years past, are just having a difference of opinion. For example, I thought that against Prestonsburg we maybe pounded the ball up the middle a little much, but you can't argue with the results. Some of the more belligerent fans may say something stupid that they don't really mean, but they paid there money to get in the game so let'em talk.
  14. "All these records aren't being broken in state championship games," Kinder said. "You get numbers like that against sorry teams." Dave Hunt could accept the fact that Burch High School had a sorry team. The coach had expected as much after eight seniors graduated from last season's team and two more players transferred to Matewan. Hunt had approached 2006 with modest goals: to teach kids about football and build a nucleus for the future. And the hits just keep on coming.
  15. I told you the rankings were interesting, but I didn't say why. It seems to me that these rankings are just thrown together by the writers at MaxPreps. It also makes me wonder the validity of the other states rankings as well.
  16. Humm, I've said that before and I usually get thrashed for it. Oh well, glad to see we agree on something occasionally.
  17. http://asp.usatoday.com/sports/preps/football/scores/results.aspx?state=KY Interesting rankings.
  18. I knew you would disagree, but that's OK. You're a team player, and that's what team players do. Hope to see ya in the playoffs.:thumb: And I really hope the young Pirates remember that.
  19. Nobody wants to heat this, but if Pikeville doesn't at least make the semis then Pikeville really doesn't have a "strong" team. It will come down to Pikeville and Somerset, but which team is stronger remains to be seen.
  20. It was definitely unsportsmanlike, not so much the TD pass, but the onsides kick after scoring the long TD that only puts you down 32 points. To me, it's kind of like a rule of thumb in football ethics. When the winning team, and the game had already been decided, substitutes for his starters the losing team ought to do the same. The starters had the chance to be competitive in the game and failed to do so. Let the other kids play.
  21. Not surprising at all, imo.
  22. I bet that's what it was. But if you notice the "C" in case is capitalized and I thought he was referring to a Belfry resident whose name is Mitchell Case or one of his children. I should have put 2 & 2 together there......thanks.
  23. DeRossett flat out irritates me and things like this are just the half of it.
  24. Would you care to elaborate on the "ala Mitchell Case" reference?
  25. He would start at Belfry. He'd be 3rd string to May and Chapman, as far as carries go, but he would start.
