Final.

It was all Male in the first half (21-0).

Then St. X came storming bacl to tie it in the closing minutes.

X scored first in the OT; but missed their extra point.

Male scored and made their's.

Whooey.

And next is and easy knock off for Male. They shouldn't even practice. The players should party all week. Yeah, that sounds like a game plan.

A number of posters on this site have been predicting that the kicking game would cost X eventually. I guess they knew what they were talking about.

yep. In all fairness he did slip because of the mud and hooked it. I cant really fault him. It was REALLY sloppy down there. REALLY gutsy performance by the X defense in the second half. Male ran out of gas in the second. I think X has a pretty good shot if there is a rematch.:thumb:

edit: Forgot the congrats to Male they are a heckuva team!

Looks as if the game lived up to the hype. A rematch is imminant isnt it?

If Male and X win their first round games.

Whew! The temperature was in the 40s, but I was sweatin' bullets! Male streaked out to a 21-0 lead and it looked like the game was going to get out of hand in the 2nd. But X came out pumped up in the 2nd half and the Bulldogs just looked worn out. Male was lucky to get the W, but what the heck, they lost close games to X the last two years that could have gone either way.

What more can be said about Douglas Beaumont? Numerous tackles, a big return on the opening kickoff, a one on one pass breakup against Vic Anderson. And, oh yeah, four touchdowns against one of the best defenses in the state. He flat out took the game on his shoulders in the 2nd half and strengthened his case for Mr. Football with his performance tonight.

If this ends up being the last St X/Male game played at Manual Stadium, this classic was a fitting final chapter in a long list of games going back to the 1920s.

One more thing: How 'bout them Massey Ratings!!! (Massey predicted a 29-27 Male win!)

It's a shame that 2 of the best in 4A have to meet so early in the playoffs.

Only 1 of them can win it all anyways(or Trinity).

What does second get?

:thumb: I almost wish I was there.

I got there early and meet some X kids and had a nice chat. Great crowd for both sides. Field was in terrible shape and that was a shame for both teams. Like posted earlier "A tale of two halfs". X defense gave our QB different looks in the 2nd half and they played very well, and with a 21-0 lead I felt it was over, but the X QB was outstanding. If we meet again I'd be worried about the way he threw the ball. Our kids showed a lot of heart and I'm proud for them. I've been around these Seniors for four years a its a very special group of young men. Good luck to the X guys and to their fans.

What does second get?

A lifetime supply of Rice a roni, the San Francisco treat.
