Lorentez Barbour is still playing, and he saw some time at QB last season but he is at the safety spot this year. I thought he played QB well. He hurt his hand in the playoffs last year and they switched him to defense.

Weakest in 30 years, actually. They look like they are well on their way to a losing record, which hasn't happened since 1982. Offense lost too many players from last year and no one has stepped up so far.

If I remember correctly, he scored on a long pass on one of the first plays against Ryle. Doesn't he usually start? Now he's not even listed as a reserve. What's the story here, Shamrocks? :confused:

The way some are talking, it should be enough for a Trinity coach to drive down with their jerseys and just throw them out on the field.

My understanding is that the kickoff will be 7:00pm CST, which is 8:00pm EST, (consistent with the KHSAA info being correct).

If you were that close, maybe you should have asked the ref if he left his glasses at home. They never hear that.

They're not supposed to state the player's number in high school games when announcing a penalty. They just started doing that in college games a couple of years ago...

How on the world could this team feel slighted? They've been all but anointed champs for the next 3 years and are certainly the prohibitive favorites this year. Is this some Beatty psychology at work--making them feel 'disrespected' and the underdog even though Lit has them as at least 2 TD favorites over any other team in the state?

I should mention the gutsy play of Male's QB, who took a wicked blow to the throat on a failed goalline sneak late in the 4th. After a few minutes to gather himself during the Henderson possession, he came back to throw the game-tying TD pass with about 5 min left in regulation.

Regarding the statement that T/X was the 'real' state championship game, I'm not convinced that St X was better than Ryle. The fact that Ryle has this game at home makes it interesting.

Henderson County fans should be proud of the Colonels. They played fast and physical on both sides of the ball and Male was lucky to get the win. I was relieved by the outcome, but I hated to see the HC kids come up short after playing such a great game.

Western has a very good team with some outstanding players on defense. I'm not surprised that they took the W.

Ugly win for Male. They will have to be much sharper next week or their road will end in Scott County. The Bulldogs squandered two trips inside the HC 5 (one lost fumble for a touchback and one stopped on 4th and inches inside the 1), and dropped 2 passes that hit the receivers on the hands. My hat's off the Henderson County. They are a talented, hard-nosed football team. I thought they outplayed Male, but couldn't keep up in overtime. There was an 'illegal batting' call against Henderson late in the game which resulted in a loss of down--don't think I've ever heard of that penalty before.

What was Manual doing that was so provocative? I was listening to the game on the radio and the Trinity announcers didn't mention any behavior that would provoke conflict between the coaching staffs (other than curious playcalling with a 4 TD lead in the final minute). I don't know what Beatty thought he was accomplishing by calling that timeout and ramming one more score in (teaching Manual some kind of lesson?), because it makes people sympathetic toward Manual and really made him look like a jerk.

I liked the old 4 class system with top 2 teams from each district going. But if the number of playoff teams is reduced, the KHSAA can't do this ridiculous district stacking like they did for next year (X, T, H, M in same 6A district).

Yes, but the gods defecated on them next year. Poor old Manual got it both years.
