To start the year Finch and Green I think are the favorites. Followed by Bowling, Phillips and Lewis. One never knows how the year will play out but those four are pretty solid players.

There is plenty of talent walking the halls at Clay County, hopefully this young man can get them on the football field. Hope the community will allow him several years to put together a respectable program, best of luck to the Tigers.

I did it just to get reaction from the boys on here it worked... As far as thinking deeper than I am able to.............wow I don't think I would be able to use protestations in a sentence such as yourself.

There were two teams that stood out from the rest this past weekend the team from Arlington, TX (Bowie) and the team from Roanoke, VA. The TX team brought more athletes than all the other schools combined, but the VA school only had eight kids playing both ways and by far had the best QB of the day. Now for the helmet issue that was brought up earlier, NO they did not forget there helmets in TX. They are not allowed to wear helmets during the off season TX high school rule. The reason the KY school did not want to play them is simple they were out athletic in every position by the TX team. Lets not make excuses the team had it all speed, size and attitude. The KY teams that I think played well that I saw were Male, John Hardin, Hazard and Manual. Hard to judge how a team will do from 7 on 7 but it does let you know who has speed. Male and John Hardin from what I could tell had speed in more than one position with over all team speed greater than the rest of the teams from KY. Just my thoughts sure there were more teams that performed well just did not get the opportunity to see them.

I have not had the opportunity to see CovCath but I did watch Highlands play BG at Papa Johns last year. Walk away impressed by the program as a whole not many can compare with the history of the Bluebirds. John Hardin in time I think will be mentioned every year as a 5A favorite, they have the facilities and staff to make it happen.

John Hardin will be lead by Junior QB Alex Dingle (141/70 for 1175 yds/ 20 TD’s) has one year experience under his belt and will be surrounded by talented skill position players, demonstrated at times he could be a very accurate and proficient passer when given the chance. Needs to make quicker decisions with the lost of go to guy Mr. Denham. The running game will need to fill the void left by all everything RB Matt Denham (1588/16 TD’s). This will be done by seniors Elias Camper (871/13 TD’s) and Cameron Parker (476/6 TD’s). The Dogs will need to develop another receiver to compliment Senior Tim Marcum (22/397 7 TD’s) and a blocking TE. Speed will not be a problem for the Bulldogs with most skill positions running 4.6 or better 40s, and if the O line develops over the course of the year watch out 5A football. Look to see the Bulldogs at Papa Johns playing Highlands for it all.

Agree, barring no injuries to both teams. Giving the Birds the egde because of being there before.

My son played his first two years of high school basketball in NY which has a shot clock. It completly changes the complextion of games. They are much faster and players have to be in far greater shape. Why shouldn't one of three classless states at least experiment with a shot clock to see how it impacts games. In the last few minutes of a game, coaches really have to work hard instead of waiting to get fouled. Think how much better the offensive numbers would be for our KY kids when it comes to scholarships.

John plays Woodford County in 08, last year 07 they played Butler.

Both programs should be strong, I really didn't know what they had returning.

The road in the eastern part of the state will run through Highlands Bluebirds and until someone steps up I don't see it any different. The road in the west is bit more diffcult with several teams having a chance at winning it all. 1. John Hardin 2. Owensboro 3. Bowling Green

John Hardin Bulldogs 2008 I think the Bulldogs are on the verge of a great season and a deep run into the playoffs with a senior lead team. However, in order for that to happen, Coach Brown and coaching staff will need players who are switching to different positions, along with the younger players to feel comfortable and confident with the physical and mental aspects of playing varsity football. I especially think that it is crucial to get the offensive and defensive lines working together and being productive after losing seniors at those positions. (Gatewood and Mitchell). John Hardin has a tradition of working hard and practicing hard and of course this contributes in a significant way to the program's success. I am sure that this trend will continue this year. The Bulldogs will look to improve on their passing game and maintain there success on the ground. They need to diversify their offense in 2008 and develop a goal line offence. To everyone who thinks the Bulldogs should run less, they are wrong; Brown has won championships with running teams... Linebacking has been a strength of pass Bulldog’s defensive teams and this year looks to be the same with senior Caleb Mitchell anchoring the middle. The defensive secondary late last season showed that they can shut down the passing game. The Defensive line will need to find there identity for the dogs to be successful this season. For the Bulldog’s to have a successful season the defense will need to play all four quarters which I am sure coach Gregory will emphasize during spring practice. Strengths: Head Coach and staff, Running Game, Defense Must Improve: Leadership on the field, Heart, Desire, Goal Line Offense, Strength, Finishing games Overall the Bulldog’s have to be considered one of the top teams in Class 5A and should have a chance at making a run at the schools first ever State Title. It will be a very entertaining and exciting season for the Bulldogs and their fans. :dancingpa

North Hardin halls are full of talent getting them on the field will take some time, Jaggers will have them headed in the right direction in a couple of years.

How about Dale Fox from the early 80's carried his team to the state ever year.

The entire secondary was geared to stop D.L., one on one coverage does not look like the entire secondary.

Congrats!!!! Hard for me to see D.L. as a D-1 reciever watched him play at John Hardin in the playoffs, was non-factor as a reciever, 0 catches. John had maybe a 5'10'' d-back hold him in check all night. Good luck at the next level....

Meade will bring a very senior laden team to bulldog stadium. J.L. will need a monster game to over come Male’s speed. If Male is still playing that confusion defense the only one confused may be Male. Meade 35 Male 28

I believe everyone in 5A will be watching this game very closely; both teams come into the game with a head of steam. I do agree with EasyPro that BG has to be the favorite to win because of senior leadership. Be aware that Coach Brown will have his team prepared to play with the Purples, JH young QB will need to step up and make plays something he has not been ask to do all year. If BG comes to Bulldog stadium not prepared for JH speed it could be a long night for the Purples. If the game goes into the 4th quarter with the game still in the balance look for JH to have the advantage playing at home, but if BG jumps out to a quick lead could be a long night for the Bulldogs. My heart wants to say John wins a close one, but I think the Purples have too much leadership for John to overcome. BG 35 JH 21
