You took the words out of my mouth. The line will definately be a key but I think the staff will be able to place together a pretty solid line when it is all said and done. Clint Cashen was like no other QB I've seen in our area so he will be a huge loss but if I were guessing, you will see Corbin go back to being Corbin. By that, I mean run over, around ya, and under you. Whoever is given the keys to the offense will need to be able to keep teams honest with their arm but won't need to be the level of Clint.

The QB position will be a tough call for the coaching staff. You have a senior(Freeman)who has been waiting to get his shot at the position and would be more of a running threat than Cashen was. Then you have a sophomore(Mitchell)who is a very good athlete who would also make a really good WR. Also you have a freshman(Smith)who appears to have the makings of a special QB if he continues to develop.

I think the Smith kid will soon make Corbin fans forget all about Cashen...Playing as a freshman is tough...

Corbin shouldn't have much trouble in their opener against a Pikeville team that will be severely depleted at season's beginning. Fritz and Campbell may go for 350 rushing yards combined, it really doesn't matter in Game One who the Hounds will be starting at QB as long as he can hand the ball off and stay out of the way. But, as the season wears on that is another story.

Corbin should have a very good running attack with the two you mentioned along with Watkins.............who they will be running behind is still a question mark for the Hounds. If the Barton kid is back out after sitting out last year, Lewallen is healthy, Manns does indeed play and the freshman Mills is ready for the step-up in competition, they should have enough players to go along with Hayden, Taylor and Creech to man both sides of the line.

Hounds solve their line problems and all is fine. If the line is mediocre, well, long season probably.

They're running game was so good last year because of the line, not the backs. You can't run anywhere without a line.

My guess at what Corbin's line-up may look like:

QB - Smith / Freeman

FB - Campbell

RB - Watkins

RB - Fritts

WR - Sewell / Mitchell

TE - French / Manns

OT - Hayden

OT - Creech

G - Taylor / McAuliffe

G - Lewallen / Mills

C - Barton

DE - Campbell / Stewart

DE - French / Manns

DT - Creech / Lewallen

DT - Taylor / Chadwell

LB - Watkins

LB - Rossi / French

LB - Goforth / Mills

LB - Hanson / Fritts

DB - Sewell

DB - Crawford

DB - Freeman / Sowders

Speaking as a Bardstown fan, I'd like to wish the Hounds good luck this year. I've watched football all over this state and in my opinion, Corbin has the most football-crazy fans and that is good for the game. If every town supported football the way you do there, this state would be better off.

Just found out Travis Smith will not play football this year he is having knee surgey on jun 12 and will rehab for about 4 months. Corey Sewall is not going to play football this year. And also was tolg that Saxson Okuma is looking really good and strong and is expected to play some linebacker. And that Matthew Taylor is working out in lexington with a group and will probley have help this Corbin football team in several differnt ways.

Hanson will also not be playing this year.

Thats to bad because I think he would of helped on defenes and probley started.

Is this surgery from the injury he suffered last season or is this something new? This should clear the way for Freeman to get his chance this year to QB, which may change the offensive look as well.

Taylor and Saxson both look like they may be ready to play this year as sophs. and with Sewell not playing, Taylor could have an opportunity to start at WR or at DB. I know that Sewell was not happy with his limited offensive role last year, did that play into his decision to hang it up and will he suit up with the soccer team?
