2008 Corbin

I hear the Foley boy is going to be at one of the linebacker spots. He has shown the coaches alot during the passing scrimmages and is fast and strong enough to play the spot.

He has some talent and will probably play quite a bit but there is competition at that spot.

Watkins ran a 4.47 at the UK camp. Fritts ran a 4.58 and both kids still have 2 years to play. These kids will be fun to watch if Corbin can just fill one or two holes on the line.

Locke at UK runs a 4.41 and that is pretty much world class sprinter speed. Were these times recorded by hand or electronically? I think hand times are pretty unreliable.

Locke runes a 4.21 and Smith runs 4.29. Those are timed at the Pro Day UK has which allows current and graduating players work out for pro scouts. UK has about 10 -15 players running sub 4.5. Still yet, for high school 4.47 is smoking, especially in this part of the state.

Smith and Locke are very fast, I suspect those are hand times...Here is a 100 meter conversion for 40 times...

10.2=4.34

10.3=4.38

10.4=4.43

10.5=4.49

To my knowledge neither guy has run much faster than a 10.5 on the track...4.2 is world class as in Jamaican Usain Bolt....

John Cole from Somerset ran a 11.3 to win the state class A 100 meter dash...Are the Corbin kids faster than John Cole...Just trying to give a little perspective on 40 times....

I see what you all mean comparing these times, but im just saying that I talked to his parents and this is what I was told. And coach Brooks and Joker talked to him so they must believe he is fast and legit. Joker told him to run another forty and it was just about the same.

If the info is coming from the parents I'm guessing they fudged the numbers just a little bit. The fastest you will see a kid from Corbin run is around 4.6-4.7 and they are very few that run that time. Blackwood who played just a few years ago was probably the fastest back that I recall and I believe he was clocked at 4.6 and neither one of these two kids are as fast as he is. I'm not knocking Caleb or Ryan because both will be excellent players at Corbin when they are through playing.

Joker Phillips timed the forty. Rich Brooks who witnessed the run recorded it and showed the recorded time to the parents and Caleb. He wouldn't have any reason to record a false time. So, the numbers weren't fudged. When he ran the forty the first time he ran a 4.5 then he (Joker Phillips) called over Rich Brooks and Caleb ran a second time. It was a 4.47. Rich Brooks confirmed it and recorded it.

What will Caleb's approximate playing weight be at this year?

Caleb's playing weight will be around 190.

It's a shame that Trace Vorebeck is not playing this season he would have been a great kicker and would have got to play some varisty football before the season was over I don't think setting out a year will help him at all I'v seen this kid play and he has talent.

Vorbeck not playing does the hurt the freshmen group coming in, but they still have thier three most talented players playing in Foley, Mills, and Frederick.

Hoover needs to be on the field as well.

There is some sad news out of Corbin today as standout freshmen Joey Farley had a terrible weight lifting accident, as he dropped a 45 pound plate on his toe and now is only sporting only 8 toes, according to the doctors. He is expected to make a full recovery.
