It looks like the Hounds should be fine on the offensive side of the ball with the likes of Fritts & Watkins packing the mail. I believe that Freeman will suprise alot of people with his ability to play QB. The concern that I have is how will they be on defense it seems they will be young on that side of the ball.

How well the LB's play will more than likely determine how good the defense is. They have to be the playmakers in Corbin's defensive scheme and Watkins is the only returning LB with any experience. Any chance that Campbell or French move from DE to LB? If not, who else will play LB other than Watkins?

You're exactly right. They are loaded. And the best thing is they can run both ways.

 

I think we will be back to old school Redhound football, we may go on some 8-10 min drives this season.

Really good backs and a really questionable O-line.

Time will tell how it plays out.

I think time will show us Corbin will do fine whichever type of style they end up going with.

District is still theirs to lose, IMO.

Clint Cashen was a pleasure to watch and single handedly changed Corbin football. It may be a long time before we see someone as good as him if we ever do. I will say this much, it will be great to see good ol fashion Corbin football. You can't win championships these days with a 80-20 offense like back in the Glory Days but Willard will have it balanced but other teams will know they are getting a dose of real smashmouth football. When you think of smashmouth football in Eastern Kentucky, Corbin is the king..its back!

Thats right we will smash people like back in the day, however Belfry don't throw and they just win.

They could have done that with last year's line.............who will replace the departed players such as Nolan, Mocahbee, Martin & Nantz up front that will allow that to happen this year though? I'm not necessarily saying they won't be able to, I just don't see many kids who are nearly as physically strong as the ones who graduated.

It's very rare that Corbin does'nt have a good line.

They may not have to attempt a pass with backs like Campbell, Watkins and Fritts.

 

Nobody to block for them!! Don't see them scoring many TD's this year, but as always Willard will be the backbone of the team and find a way to score a few.

My guess at what Corbin's line-up may look like:

 

QB - Smith / Freeman

FB - Campbell

RB - Watkins

RB - Fritts

WR - Sewell / Mitchell

TE - French / Manns

OT - Hayden

OT - Creech

G - Taylor / McAuliffe

G - Lewallen / Mills

C - Barton

 

 

DE - Campbell / Stewart

DE - French / Manns

DT - Creech / Lewallen

DT - Taylor / Chadwell

LB - Watkins

LB - Rossi / French

LB - Goforth / Mills

LB - Hanson / Fritts

DB - Sewell

DB - Crawford

DB - Freeman / Sowders

They will be great @ the RB position. I guess they could find anyone to hand the ball off to those three guys.:thumb:

I would love to see Corbin schedule Lynn Camp and we all know its not Coach Mitchell because he will schedule anyone. I think it would do the community good to renew this old rivarly. Knox Central got an invite to the Pigskin Classic this coming year....maybe ours is coming soon????

Im not so sure that Sewell will sit out his senior year. I seem to remember him saying the same thing last summer. Hopefully he decides to suit up for the Hounds. Manns, Hendrickson, and Stewart from the basketball team will be solid additions.

 

 

I heard a couple of talented incoming 9th graders have left the team as well. Any word on Cook and Helton? How many from the talented 8th grade team are still playing? Hopefully some of these kids will change their minds and play in the future or the future might not be as good as it could be.

I think you willsee Okuma at one.

The Okuma kid has a ton of potential...he will be a fun player to see develop over time.

Cook was a very promising kid that didn't mature as one would have hoped he would.

 

All of the so called core group have came out to participate and 4-5 of them should see varsity playing time this year, with Foley and Mills possibly starting.
