This Corbin team plays with tremendous effort...They have a solid chance to win this game. I saw some film on NCC and the two bigger kids are pretty solid linemen, but #50 is the best all around OL for NCC and 73 on the DL IMHO. The two big boys will dominate if they get hands on you, but if Corbin's DL is not playing gap control and stunting they will be hard for NCC to handle. I love the effort Corbin plays with! The QB is the biggest threat for NCC; their RB's are solid as well with #3 being the best of the bunch and a solid LB. If the Hounds score 28 they have a great shot at winning this game.

Stan is second to none. He loves the "big orange" and is an all around great guy.

LC has some talent on a yearly basis, but they suffer from being too predictable on offense. In today's game you must have superior talent, not just good talent, to beat teams with a "run em over" mentality. This isn't to say one may not run the football, but tight splits, double tight, and three in the backfield is a style that is suited for the team with an abundance of talent. LC would benefit from a fresh offensive approach. With that said Mitchell and company deserve the credit that their kids play hard in most games. They are traditionally a tough bunch that will hit until the final whistle. If you combine those characteristics with some "flashy" offense, then you will see LC improve quickly. They should "soften" their schedule by a game or two...I mean LCA, Whitley, and Somerset...geez...that is murderer's row. A few tests are great for a team leading into the district, but there is a fine line between a test and overscheduling. Props for not backing down or boos for being foolhardy?

Both are good kids, and it is good to see them get this opportunity. They are excellent workers with great attitudes. Best of luck.

Ryan is a fine kid; he is a pleasure to be around. I wish him all the luck in the world up at Mt. Union.

He could be a dominant player at Centre. I still expect him to have a very solid career at EKU. This young man will work hit tail off to get on the field.

He has made a solid choice academically as well. Wofford is an excellent school, and this shows that Caleb has his priorities in order.

I hate to hear about this loss for the Jewells. They are good people and they have my prayers. They give a lot of themselves to Corbin High School and to Redhound Football. As for the game, Corbin must be mentally prepared and come out firing. They can not get a lead and put it in cruise control. The second round is a trap week for Corbin due to the lack of competition in the past few years. Suddenly there is a tough team coming to town and the Hounds have to bring their A game a little sooner than in the past. I think Coach Jewell and company will have the team coached up and ready, but teenage boys are the ones we are counting on to be ready to play internally, which I think they will be. Not only is it a lack of talent on the DL, it is a lack of overall linemen in general. They simply don't have enough of them to rotate players to keep them fresh.

Danville's offense was out of sync and very predictable...they need a passing package beyond bootleg when they line up in single wing...or maybe a counter...they go tackle over with backs stacked and they are going that way...I don't think that formation got any positive yards except when they cut it back to the weak side due to Corbin's contain. Roman did a good job for the Hounds and the offense was adequate, no broken records, but very solid. They did just what they wanted to, control the ball, work the clock, and make no/few mistakes. Besides a few procedure penalties Corbin was pretty disciplined out there. Watkins is a solid player. I was most impressed with Corbin's defense. Coach Jewell did a great job having them ready. Danville only drove the ball once on the defense and only scored 6 points. The other 8 came on a big play, not a long drive.

Williamsburg 32 Harlan 13 the Burg can control the game with effective passing. Herron and the Jackets will have to be patient because Harlan will give some different looks on D and will make WHS nickle and dime it down the field.

LCA is too much, but other posters are right, if Lynn Camp stays healthy they will be battle tested later in the season. This could pay dividends or it could be a disaster...just depends on the kids...In this game though LCA wins by 28 plus. LCA-49 Campers-15

:thumb::thumb: One thing can ALWAYS be said about a Jerry Herron coached team...they WILL NOT quit. They will always fight opponents to the end of the game even if they are on the short end of a blowout!!! You are right Volfan...whoever said that is out of line.

Whitley is too much for LC this year. I see it as 44-12 with LC scoring late and Coach Black pulling the starters to start the 4th quarter.

Corbin 38 Harlan 13 The Green Dragons have improved from last season, but Corbin is very talented, and will come out firing. If they don't fire early then it could be a battle to the end. Harlan is not to be taken lightly, but if they Hounds take care of business they can handle Harlan. If they do not it will be a fight to the finish.

If WHS can overcome their fatigue/cramping issues from last week they have a good shot at this game. I think if they were healthy they would be favored...since they are not I think they will pull out a close one in the end 34-31.

Wasn't necessary, meaning it had no consequence on the final outcome. It was out of reach for Jellico at that point. 14 points in 60 seconds with no timeouts is virtually impossible, unless you are Pineville from 2007.

Definately agreed. That is why I said that is football. If the defense can't stop a run play then what do you expect a kid to do kneel on his own after the first down. With the injuries there was no one but the Thomas kid to carry it. He is a load. I certainly didn't feel the score was run up. At least for jellicos sake it wasn't 57-0 again. As volfan said the D did a good job. Hatcher went against his reservations about blitzing and stunting which made that defense a force.

Some of the Burg's younger players will get better with time this season. They have a murderer's row of a schedule coming up. I thought the last touchdown with less than 2 minutes left wasn't necessary, but that is football. I wish those young men the best this season, and best of luck to the coaches...good folks all the way around.

By Catholic standards, they were a little down last year. If they are back to normal this year it will be a 10+ point win for LexCath. If they have not improved very much it will be a nice game with Whitley pulling it out.

I hate to hear this about Chris. He is a great kid. He would have been an explosive player this year, probably the fastest player on the team. Who was the oher injury? Please let Chris know I wish him the best and a speedy recovery.

It will not be easy because Lynn Camp is always tough and physical and uh oh, Campbellsville has a new coach and a ton of athletes. Campbellsville is and has been by far the most talented team in the district, but they haven't been able to get it going in the right direction. Chappel may have them rolling.

Well your opinion of my football knowledge is of little consequence. You obviously have comprehension issues with my post. I said the coaches put players in the position to benefit the team. I also said that it was ludicrous to play a kid in a given position based on his perceived college stock. Further, have you ever spoken to a college coach? They take out the film if a kid doesn't play the position they need?! Tell the Duncan kid that that played TE at E-town and is on Uks OL. Let's try another shall we? Tyler Thigpen played wingback in high school and was a starting qb for the chiefs last year. Many receivers are converted to db etc. So if a big TE in high school can play the game, colleges will find him a spot. They are typically versatile enough to play dl or ol depending on their potential development. And following Corbin football, I keep up with it and in their offense there isn't a whole lot of difference in te or ot except your number. You gave a stat about his catches last year. By doing that you proved my point. Maybe with a smaller line Corbin plans on reaching ends with a big strong te and running outside the tackles some. But what do I know? They may just be trying to kill a young man's potential to go to college, or better yet they are insane and need bluegrass preps posters to consult them and make personnel choices for them! It will all work out in the end for the good of the team and Manns will have plenty of opportunities at the next level. My main point is that team concerns outweigh personalconcerns and aspirations. But as I said Aaron is a good, down to earth kid who puts team first. Only bgpers make statements that are more on the individualist side.

I am sure. Manns is a top notch, selfless kid. I was simply referring to the coments in the post I had quoted in general.
