  1. LC's offense should get a big boost when some of their players are healthy Friday night. I expect to see a few wrinkles from coach Mitchell as well.
  2. WHS MUST play better than they did against Harlan IF they expect to win this one. The D must show up, and the WR's can not drop the number of wide open catches they did Friday night.
  3. Watts is a GREAT player...but his career will have this sub-story to it...he was great....BUT. He can not beat you on his own. This young man has no supporting cast; He can not beat anyone that is worth their salt on his own. That is why a 4A school has little/no chance to beat Williamsburg...one of the smaller 1A's in the state. I am glad to see this game coming off the schedule because there are many cheap shots taken out on the field...this risks injury to young men, and there is no place for that in high school sports. McCreary has bigger fish to fry than Williamsburg...try Knox Central, Bell, and Rock for starters!!! As for this game I hope no one gets hurt and the younger guys get to play a half of football...anything short of this is a failure to reach the goals at WHS.
  4. The loss of Cumberland and Evarts due to consolidation took away two games in the middle of a two year contract, thus WHS picked up Evarts' opponent this week and then Cumberland's opponent when they play Harlan...I think in 3 weeks. It is nearly impossible to get games in the year between contracts. Teams play home and home series and then the schedules re-set the second year.
  5. Is Arnfield healthy now? He is a great player, and should get some looks at the next level.
  6. WHS had a poor showing in the first half with some turnovers and they gave Bath some big plays through blown assignments and not tackling. The second half was very different. The Jackets really hit Bath in the second half; I have never seen WHS hit like they did in that second half. The burg will have to put together complete efforts against tough, focused teams in order to win. Bath seemed to lose focus in the 2nd half and it hurt them as WHS outscored them 32-8.
  7. The offense has to be patient and the defense has to be disciplined. If they kids come out and treat this like the big game it is WHS has a great chance to win. If they are flat or blow assignments they have the chance to lose in a big way. The Jackets have to have their A game Friday night.
  8. 33 is Daniel Pettite; he is a junior wr/te for WHS.
  9. What were the injuries and what are those players' status?
  10. LC is too much for Leslie. However, it may be closer than the experts think.
  11. I think you hit the nail on the head...Frankfort has tremendous speed, and they seem to be well coached. Frankfort is/will be favored, they are much faster than WHS. If the D can come up with a few stops I think WHS has a chance in this one...if not it could be a race that WHS will likely lose.
  12. The Ville will be more physical and may lead at the half, but LCA will pull away in the end with more depth and a better passing game. LCA 35 C-Ville 23
  13. HC also had a chance to see the WHS offense in a passing scrim. back in June at Pineville. Both HC and KC should have fine seasons. WHS must maintain focus if they are to be successful. KC was a better team, but WHS completely let down in the KC game.
  14. I couldn't remember Armfield's name off the bat...thank you. He really stood out in the lineman camp...although I'd say he's closer to 6'4 it doesn't really matter because he can play. My guess is he will be a center/guard type player in college, but he certainly has the feet to play tackle. He has great feet, and is really a tenacious player. He was also a well mannered young man, so best of luck to him on a great year.
  15. South has one of the best linemen in the state...I had the chance to coach him at the UK camp recently and he is the real deal. I expect him to receive an offer if his books etc. are in order. Good luck to this young man.
  16. That is sad...I mean punishment, anger all ok, but a season long grudge is ludicrous. I also doubt that Willard would hold a season long grudge against a kid...but I may be wrong.
  17. If Cook and Helton are the couple of talented incoming 9th graders that left the team then it's not that big of a hit as neither one of them were that big of contributors on last years 8th grade team. Cook was a very promising kid that didn't mature as one would have hoped he would. All of the so called core group have came out to participate and 4-5 of them should see varsity playing time this year, with Foley and Mills possibly starting. A promising kid that didn't mature as hoped!!!:eek: He was an 8th grader...I don't even know the kid, but to expect an 8th grader to mature as an athlete is out of touch with reality. Of course a palyer should develop or improve in his 8th grade season, but to say he's been essentially given up on is sad. Also development is not a player's responsibility alone...especially at that age COACHING and PARENTING are critical to the progress of a player in these developmental years. Some kids do not ever reach their potential and some bloom early; I have seen kids "arrive" as late as the Jr/Sr years. Many times the late bloomer is better than the early as they have more upside. The early bloomer is already as good as he is going to be and has a tendency to think he is good enough and doesn't need to work hard any more. :flame:
  18. Joe's knee was a freak thing...the field was wet and it hadn't rained in weeks...the ground just gave way when he tried to make a cut.
  19. The Okuma kid has a ton of potential...he will be a fun player to see develop over time.
  20. That is a bold/abrasive statement. I know you all have a rivalry but come on...afterall WHS did beat LC last year, didn't they.
  21. Sewell is a good athlete...he will be missed. Seems Corbin always drops a few players in the off-season. The other posters are correct...if they piece together a solid line then they will have a good season...if not they may have some difficulty.
  22. The two additions to the schedule replacing Cumberland and Evarts are Harlan Ind. and Jenkins. The burg looks to have a strong season if they can show discipline every week. They seemed to hit a lul when the injury bug bit last year...they have to keep focus and fight through the adversity that comes with any football season.
  23. I saw the film from the Dayton/Lynn Camp game...the call in question wasn't even close. The runner was at least a yard away when he was down...he then bounced into the endzone. LC was the better team IMO; they simply played poorly at Dayton.
