2008 South Laurel

Featured Replies

What does South Laurel need to do to improve in 2008? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

What will the South Laurel Cardinals do this year.

I think this is the best team at South Laurel since 1999 when they went 11-2, won the district and lost a close one to Tates Creek 42-37 in the regional finals. The offence is going to be special with Ricky Bowling at QB, Jake Cobb, Chris Mitchell, Steve Quillen and Blake Fields to make lots of big plays, and it don't hurt that all 5 OL return.

Gut feeling tells me this may not pan out to be the season the SL faithful expect.

Some talent, a lot of questions to be answered.

Time will tell.

I don't expect a total bust, but have a feeling that it will be somewhat similar to last year with 1 or so more losses.

Most of the teams in the district return a lot of starters, also, which could hamper a breakout season for the Cards.

You'r right , it won't be easy, but non- district not as tough, and as for the district I think Pulaski is the team to beat, and everbody else is very close.

South Laurel looked really good in their 7 on 7 games last night, they appear to have a great deal of speed at the WR postion, also Ricky Bowling was making play after play with his arm.

They will miss the receivers from last year, not near as good as last years receiver.

I think South will surprise alot of people with their receivers this year.

I have to disagree, this year's WR's are ahead of last year's group at this point in the season, still way to early to know how good their going to be.

Don't judge how good a team will be on how they do in 7 on 7.

South Laurel will be very good this year, however it's a plus to look good at all football functions.

Too bad the qb can't sit in the pocket for ten seconds in a game like he does in 7 on 7.

It may seem like 10 seconds at times but really its just 4 seconds during 7 on 7.

Come on, that 99 team was a special group, it will be a sucess if this years team makes the playoffs, they are in a very tough district.

South has one of the best linemen in the state...I had the chance to coach him at the UK camp recently and he is the real deal. I expect him to receive an offer if his books etc. are in order. Good luck to this young man.
