  1. It is a shame that Campbellsville has to travel so far for their district games...they should not be in that district Berea and Pineville should be added to that district. Surely there is a district closer for C-ville to be alligned into.
  2. Williamsburg played a lot of younger kids on the DL last season in order to try to keep the OL healthy...they will be in good enough shape to rotate in and boost a DL with some very strong solid players at the tackle and nose positions. I look for the DE's to have a good amount of speed as well. They should be fine in the trenches. The DB's were also very young last year; they will be young this year but will have more experience. They SHOULD be improved defensively...time will tell if they are contenders or pretenders.
  3. If anyone is interested Michelle Obama's doctoral disertation is an interesting read, to say the least...she is not far out of step with Wright...I mean the man baptized Obama's children, and he listened to him in the pullpit for 20 years and suddenly it is a shock...GASP!!! That would be like the KY house of reps coming out and being shocked that KY is a leading grower of pot and being suddenly shocked that such illegal activity is occuring here. None of this smells right to me...no pun intended.
  4. Elias is a solid young man, and will do well both in the classroom and on the field at U of C congrats to him.
  5. These kids would certainly have to have a bona-fide change of address before their transfer.
  6. This was a great event and was first class. Rumor has it that 10-15 kids recieved offers during the practices and after the game. The Border Bowl can do nothing but grow from here. I have also heard the funding is secured for two more years for sure, and the kids will have no out of pocket expense in the future...props to the people that got this thing off the ground...the future looks bright for the Border Bowl.
  7. A fine for such a thing is certainly a slap on the wrist. What about the kids eligibility that were "funded" or "assisted" with their tuition while playing sports?
  8. You are right Daddy Cat, they seemed lost against LC this season in that single-wing looking offense. I think they will be much improved; best of luck to coach Black as he will certainly work hard for his kids out there.
  9. Losing only two seniors that made significant contributions is a big plus for the Jackets. They will benefit from depth and experience. The major question mark is replacing a 1000 yard back in Will Moses. This is a big blow for the offense, but I look for some of the younger kids to step up and lock that position down. This season has a ton of potential with all 4 WR's, the QB and 4 of 5 OL returning, but there is much work to be done...especially on defense. That is the biggest question mark for WHS this season, the defense. If they have some young kids come along that can contribute in order to keep the DL fresh it can be a key to success for a defense that should be much improved from last season. There were times that the youth showed on the field for WHS; if these young men dedicate themselves to doing the hard work it takes they may take another positive step toward district, region, and possibly state championships in the future. One challenge is for the team to remain focused on the task at hand while they lift and approach spring practice. They cannot become complacent with where they are if they want to take that next step. The future can be bright in Williamsburg if these young men will work hard in the classroom and on the field this off season. GO JACKETS!!!
  10. This team is great for the young men. It gives credit where it is due for hard work in the off season and during the season. One thing I would like to see is an honorable mention team for young men that received x number of votes, but not enough to make the first team. Dividing into classes would certainly be a lofty task, but doing the honorable mention doesn't "seem" like it would take too much additional work.
  11. I always like coming to Lexington...I actually saw UK play more than UT this year...Louisville, LSU, and UT. A few things that still get my goat. 1. I am a history guy, and I saw some shirts and signs that said, "whats a Vol anyway". The complete lack of knowledge of our nation's history made me sick. 2. When UK comes to Knoxville the Pride of the Southland plays On, On U of K...when the Pride comes to Lexington they get boo'd. I thought that was a lack of class...I can semi-understand the booing of Rocky Top, but booing the band from the outset was rediculous. 3. I have read a lot of should haves about the last drive in regulation...Eric Berry "should have" intercepted a Woodson to Johnson or Burton pass and the game would have been over then...but that is neither here nor there. 4. It was a great effort by UK. Second half they looked like they could play. I froze to death too. I have been coming to Lexington for the UK/UT game since 1995 and this was the coldest one in memory...at both places for that matter. Good luck UK and win the bowl for the SEC...heck I may go to it.
  12. District 6 for example has to travel for the region if both teams are the same seed it is hosted by the odd district...next year it is the even numbered, but if both are the same seed it goes to the higher numbered district...district 8...thus the winner in district six will travel if they are equal seeds. Corbin has had to travel two years in a row for the region finals despite their seed.
  13. It appears MHS is on the ropes, they aren't healthy, they were routed last time, Corbin is flat out better, and the Jackets are wounded. When an animal is backed into a corner, in a helpless situation it tends to lash out unexpectedly. Corbin had better be ready for a war considering what is at stake and the traditional rivalry they have with the Boro. I still think Corbin wins, but it should be a classic CHS/MHS war.
  14. WHS runs it between the tackles quite a bit due to defenses honoring the pass. If they do not then the Burg will light up the scoreboard throwing...if they do Will Moses can have a big night. The defense is the key this week.
  15. No doubt about it...WHS has to play its A-game to win. The reason Campbellsville had so much success against Lynn Camp is, frankly, Lynn Camp will not adjust. They tried to stay in power I all night against CHS...they stacked the box and stopped LC. The Jacket O will create space and running lanes; it the CHS D does not sell out to stop the pass they will give up a ton of yards to Williamsburg's strength. However if they play solid pass defense and force WHS to run, they are capable as well...they simply can't make mental mistakes and help out a good football team in Campbellsville.
  16. OK nation now you are posting buletein board material for you team...hahahaha. It is a long trip, but it should be second nature by now as this will be the 3rd time the team has made the trip over to this area.
  17. I think LCA should win, but does anyone else think they are playing a little worse football right now than they did at the first of the season. Please correct me if I am wrong...but that is the appearance.
  18. I sure hope you are right about the district. It will hurt them as far as being rusty, but the fact remains they are leaps and bounds stronger this year. They have built some great confidence in themselves as result of winning in orange and achieving goals they have set.
  19. You can't take anything away from LC's progress over the last decade...and by the way Cat if you'll notice I did say power teams are WHS' Kryptonite in another post...You are also right about the buletein board material...not needed for 2nd round, but it always adds fuel to the fire for teenage boys. IF everything is held equal from the first matchup the result will be the same...IF WHS plays more soundly defensively it can/will be a different ballgame. This will be a war from all indication and I can't wait to see it. By the way CHS fans have a safe trip over to the Burg Friday afternoon.
  20. Not so fast my friend, it will be closer than the experts think...but the Hounds survive and move on to play another day.
  21. Common logic says Hazard, but with all the factors mentioned above Cumberland certainly has a good shot...they have speed and size, and may pose some matchup problems for Hazard...especially on the line.
  22. Obviously the far superior Eagles will destroy the poor Jackets because they have a great running back...I don't even think he's as good as Wagner myself, but we'll see. WHS shouldn't even show up and forfeit to this far superior team to save themselves the embarasment...does that about sum it up Cat...hahaha. I know what you are saying the Eagle strength seems to be the Jacket kryptonite, but its the playoffs you never know what can happen. You keep posting that buletein board material for WHS; I'm sure they'll use it.
  23. I was simply referring to the depth issues of 1A teams...not to the loss of Roskopf in particular...yes he was a huge loss. Will Moses is the Jacket's Roskopf in the running game and makes up ground on defense as well as anyone. But it didn't hurt WHS as bad as Joe going down. The Pineville game was a matter of giving up big plays due to blown assignments...it wasn't runs broken through the line...it was runs that were cutbacks etc. Campbellsville simply ran over the DL due to some health issues on both lines...they are now playing and more importantly able to play both ways again with rest, as opposed to sitting on one side of the ball or the other...as I said if WHS gives up 60 they deserve to lose. The McCreary game saw those same starters out as well...so a comparison can not be drawn to those numbers. It is time to put up or shut up for the Jackets. I am not entirely aware of what happened in the first game, but I believe it was addressed. As we saw today in the OSU vs. Wisc. game kids do things that are sometimes beyond the control of their respective coaches...I hope whatever happened will not spill over and make this a "dirty" game. Keep it clean, respectfull, and exciting football boys.
  24. They have certainly put in some time and hard work, and Coach Robinson is dedicated to getting it turned around. It seems that everyone is united in that common goal and they are really getting after it. Football will have helped Taylor and Pettit when all is said and done, with their physical play. I do expect an improved team...but they are in one of the toughest districts in KY.
