Good to hear the majority of them are still playing. Sometimes football becomes a numbers game and the more players you have becomes a big factor especially with injuries, etc. With the loss of Sewell, Matlock and Hanson some of the young ones may have to step it up a notch earlier than first expected. Mills is a very talented player. Good size and strength, but he has been playing against people his age, now he will have to learn how to play against people three years older. Foley is very hard nosed but again size and strength will be obstacles to overcome against the competition the Hounds face night in and night out. Things should be interesting this season.

Who are the returning sophmores for the hounds this year? I heard alot of them quit.

Foley will fill the LB spot vacated by Joseph Hamlin and Mills is likely to start Left Guard. This of course is if they come in and work for the positions Coach Jewell is not going to give any a position without them earning it.

A promising kid that didn't mature as hoped!!!:mad::eek: He was an 8th grader...I don't even know the kid, but to expect an 8th grader to mature as an athlete is out of touch with reality. Of course a palyer should develop or improve in his 8th grade season, but to say he's been essentially given up on is sad. Also development is not a player's responsibility alone...especially at that age COACHING and PARENTING are critical to the progress of a player in these developmental years. Some kids do not ever reach their potential and some bloom early; I have seen kids "arrive" as late as the Jr/Sr years. Many times the late bloomer is better than the early as they have more upside. The early bloomer is already as good as he is going to be and has a tendency to think he is good enough and doesn't need to work hard any more. :flame:

I was informed today the Duncum would not be playing football next season for the Hounds. He was one of the more promising incoming 9th graders. Strange situation when neither of the Duncum boys will be playing football and their father coaching. This one surprises me. I just hope some of these Frosh do not decide to leave the Hounds and take up the game somewhere else.

He appeared to be a very good athlete the little I saw him play last year..........will he play any other sport?

 

This is another reason that coaches need to get as many kids as possible some quality playing time in middle school football. You just never know for sure who is going to stick with it and who may develop into a good player a little later than others.

Corey Sewall has rejoined the redhounds.Omar said he has not made his mind up yet he has a broken hand rigth now I think if he hangs in there he is going to help the redhounds in the future. The Duncum thing has got me puzzled.

Figured Sewell would be back.

Is he an incoming Freshman? If so the 8th grade team didn't have anyone near that fast last season.
