2008 Corbin

I would say that Watkins is the best bet. Jarrod Lawson was set to get a scholarship his second year but the ACL injury ended his playing. Brooks stated numerous times that Jarrod would have been the starting fullback as a true freshman had he not redshirted when Corbin callers would call in on Monday nights. The preferred walkon status was due to Jarrod not getting his test scores on time and a miscommunication with the UK staff thinking that he had committed to Western Kentucky.

No Campbell or Manns?

Manns has yet to play his first high school game so.....divison one might be a little premature. Campbell would be better served at Cumberland kinda like Brad Lawson.

No Campbell or Manns?

I was mainly talking about D-1 potential. I have to see Manns before I can tell if he can even cut it at the high school level. I have no doubt that he can but id rather see someone play before making an assumption. He has tons of potential though without question.

Campbell also has potential to play D-1. However most division one coaches know who they are going to recruit by their Junior year. Michael could blow up this year and make them take notice but it will have to take a big year. Corbin had so many other options the past two years for him to stand out on a weekly basis. I put Watkins on the potential D-1 list because he had a pretty impressive Sophomore season and an apparent GREAT camp at UK. He has coaches on notice and two full years to showcase his talent.

I heard the Hounds lost a kid last week with a broken leg that required surgery...Anybody hear who it was and how he is doing...

It was Kyle West a freshman and son of assistant Basketball coach, Brent West. He had surgery to place a rod in his right leg. He broke a femur during drills. (No pads, no hitting) The doctors seem to think he must have had a stress fracture there and didn't know it. He is recovering nicely. He obviously won't be playing football this year but the doctors are hoping he may be able to shoot some hoops in basketball season.

Sorry to hear that about Kyle. My son has gotten to know him a little bit the last couple of seasons when Meece and Corbin hooked up on the Gridiron and in basketball. Our thoughts and prayers are with them for a full and speedy recovery.

Thanks for the info, we all hope Kyle has a full recovery...

Hopefully he will be back for basketball season. How many freshman does this leave still playing football this year for the Hounds.

Is Greg Duncum's 2 kids playing football for the Hounds this fall, I hope they came back they are very good athletes that will regret not playing football later IMHO.

I think the 9th grade Hounds having the following players still playing and healthy.

Foley

Mills

Howington

Fredricks

Murray

Mahan

Bailey

Jones

Alfred

plus a new kid who came from South Laurel

I am sure I am leaving someone out. I would guess about 12.... 9th graders on the team. That is about half the number of kids that finished 8th grade football last season. Those numbers look pretty good with the addition of Smith and West, who have suffered injuries.

How are they looking and where is camp going to be this year? Jabez?

Think I heard camp is somewhere in Tennessee this year. I Think it is in 2 weeks from now, after school is in session, possibly during the NIBROC break??

Who are the sophmores?

Does anyone know who the likely starters are(or seem to be getting the reps in practice) at the following positions for Corbin?

3 OL spots(other than Hayden & Taylor)

2 DT spots

LB"s
