How many more years will Mark Brown go at John Hardin? Hearsay.....what do you know?

They lose a great running back (Denham) and 3 of 4 of their D-line that was very good this year. They still have a solid Jr. QB and lots of speed in the backfield. Question mark on O is the O-line. Def. the sec. will be better with some senior experience and the LB core will be strong. The question mark will be the D-line. I'm predicting another strong season with a deep run in the play-offs, maybe even a trip to the carpet. Not sure about Brown, but hopefully he will pull a Paterno.

I think the Bulldogs are on the verge of a great season and a deep run into the playoffs with a senior lead team. However, in order for that to happen, Coach Brown and coaching staff will need players who are switching to different positions, along with the younger players to feel comfortable and confident with the physical and mental aspects of playing varsity football. I especially think that it is crucial to get the offensive and defensive lines working together and being productive after losing seniors at those positions. (Gatewood and Mitchell).

 

John Hardin has a tradition of working hard and practicing hard and of course this contributes in a significant way to the program's success. I am sure that this trend will continue this year.

 

The Bulldogs will look to improve on their passing game and maintain there success on the ground. They need to diversify their offense in 2008 and develop a goal line offence. Junior QB Alex Dingle (141/70 for 1175 yds/ 20 TD’s) has one year experience under his belt and will be surrounded by talented skill position players, demonstrated at times he could be a very accurate and proficient passer when given the chance. Needs to make quicker decisions with the lost of go to guy Mr. Denham. The running game will need to fill the void left by all everything RB Matt Denham (1588/16 TD’s). This will be done by seniors Elias Camper (871/13 TD’s) and Cameron Parker (476/6 TD’s). The Dogs will need to develop another receiver to compliment Senior Tim Marcum (22/397 7 TD’s) and a blocking TE. Speed will not be a problem for the Bulldogs with most skill positions running 4.6 or better 40s, and if the O line develops over the course of the year watch out 5A football.

 

To everyone who thinks the Bulldogs should run less, they are wrong; Brown has won championships with running teams...

 

Linebacking has been a strength of pass Bulldog’s defensive teams and this year looks to be the same with senior Caleb Mitchell anchoring the middle. The defensive secondary late last season showed that they can shut down the passing game. The Defensive line will need to find there identity for the dogs to be successful this season. For the Bulldog’s to have a successful season the defense will need to play all four quarters which I am sure coach Gregory will emphasize during spring practice.

Must Improve: Leadership on the field, Heart, Desire, Goal Line Offense, Strength, Finishing games

 

Overall the Bulldog’s have to be considered one of the top teams in Class 5A and should have a chance at making a run at the schools first ever State Title. It will be a very entertaining and exciting season for the Bulldogs and their fans. :dancingpa
