When I was completing my teaching degree at Xavier I got to spend 40 hours teaching with Clay at Holy Cross. He was a very good man!

As a young head coach in the 1999-2000 season I always wanted to beat the big dogs. Coach Listerman was always nice to me and tried to help me as I learned to run a program. He was always a class act and treated me well. Good luck in your retirement Coach.

I agree Colonel Mike. It was a great defensive game by both teams. Defense always travels and will make both teams tough to beat in March. Good game and atmosphere by all.

I can't believe that in this breakdown of the game, that Zach Clinkenbeard was not even mentioned. He is probably the most versatile player in the 8th region. He can Rebound, Shoot the ball, help alleviate pressure, guard 4 different positions on the defensive end. Statistics do not always show the value of a player. A college team that will give Zach a chance, will be pleasantly surprised with his performance. He is a Winner!

Prayers to Ray's family. He was a great man! As a young and dumb HS coach, that always got over excited, Ray calmed me down a few times both on and off the court. Not only did he teach young officials, he helped young coaches too. I always enjoyed seeing him at the State Tournament with his family. He will be missed!

I do not know the kid that is not starting and I do not know the kid who is starting either. I am sure the Senior is a little disappointed about not starting, but try to get him to stay positive and support the team. There are more important things than starting the game. The biggest is WINNING! Coach might not want him to get an early foul? Coach might know that Allen and Walsh or whoever the other scorers are will shoot the ball early. This way he can come off the bench at 6’5 and improve the team in an area. People need to realize it is nice to have best 5 on the floor, but they can’t play whole game. There has to be times when you have 2 or 3 subs in the game. Trust Coach Belcher, I know all coaches want to win. He is honestly doing what he thinks is best for the team! Enjoy the kids senior year. It will be over before you know it.

I just did a quick count on a Texas High School Football website and counted around 750 High Schools had a football game last week. You might get away with 2 Champions for every division if you have that many schools playing football. I believe we only have about 217 schools playing in Kentucky. That is why you can't do this. If they want to cut back to 4 classes and then have 2 divisions, maybe you can get away with 8 champions for the state, but I think that might be too many. Just my opinion.

Are the dates wrong on the first round? You have down 12/20 as the 2nd day of first round and the 2nd round.

You do realize that only one team wins their last game every year. Saying the postseason hasn't been kind to him and then listing all the years when he got beat. Every team loses at the end of the year, but one. Looks like his teams win around 70% of the time. That is pretty good in my book.

Why do people try to make a big deal about kids age. You all do realize that about half the students graduate high school at age 19 or with 3 months of turning 19. He might be 6 months older than the average age of all graduates in the 2021 class. Just enjoy his and every other kids abilities and quit trying to take away from their excellence.

The thing everyone has to remember about school districts and open enrollment is that the state funds schools based on Daily attendance. If school districts lose students to other school districts they lose money and would have a hard time staying open. Kenton County has open enrollment but the money coming from the state is staying in the same school system. Just something to think about when having this discussion.
