Wow, nice finish for Oldham.

First and foremost, congrats to Oldham Co on the win.

 

However, I can't help but be impressed with W-V, even in defeat.

 

These two teams will be fun to keep an eye on all year.

Did Miles or Shazier play for WV? If WV was without those 2 of their top 6 guys in the rotation that is an impressive game for them.

OUCH!!! That will always kill you in a close game, especially one decided by a bucket.

Shazier did not play.

 

Impressive game in a lot of ways for both teams. WV showed a lot in defeat; Oldham showed a lot of moxie in overcoming Walton's defense to overcome the Cats' late lead for the victory.

 

Amazing game to watch. Largest lead of the game was Walton's seven point lead at 51-44 late...

 

If Walton handles the ball better and manages the clock better with the lead, they probably win.

 

On the other hand, if Oldham hits more of their wide-open shots - particularly from beyond the arc, where the Colonels were uncharacteristically off despite good looks - then they probably aren't trailing late.

 

Credit both defenses for digging in and making things miserable for the other team's offense.

 

Bottom line is both teams served notice to the region that it will be TOUGH to beat them.

I agree Colonel Mike. It was a great defensive game by both teams. Defense always travels and will make both teams tough to beat in March. Good game and atmosphere by all.
